As you guys might have seen this is my Italeri 1/72 C-fc Dakota I posted in the under construction section.

Today exactly 26 years ago the plane was hit by a SAM 7 missle over Angola, but the crew landed safely.

The ripped fabric was made from white crepe paper that I attached with thinned wood glue.

Brown in lightened HU 29 , green in Model master French Khaki and the blue in HU 230 PRU blue.

Clearcoats are all Tamiya acrylic with flat base.

I did some oil streaks behind the cowls, exhaust stains with chalk pastels.A few antennas made from card and stretched sprue.

Not a super scale build, just something different.

Comments welcome

Great work Theuns the damage is spot on, a job well done, and some great piloting by the crew to get it down safely

Nice use of camo. The damage to the tailplane is very realistic. Well done.

Hi Theuns, cracking build mate, the damage is very impressive

Cheers, Andrew

Great job. The DC 3 has a nice shape, which you've high lighted well here.

Thanx all, it was a satisfying build and I learned some new skills.

I tried here in SA to get hold of the crew who actually flew 6855 during the missle strike, but sofar no success.

Interestingly there was another C-47 of the Portugese AF in Mozambique that was also struck whti a SAM 7 in one of the engines, it to landed safely.

SO the old Dak seems to be near indestructable!
