Scale Model Shop

"School boy hobby"?!

YES Ernie i was angry he did that but my mate went to that exfreind boat club members an told them all that he dint build HMS YORK an that i did an so i heard later that they sent him to coventry an wont speak to him so he got his comuperance in the end but i did not want to speak up in a big show about him as in my opinion it would have spoilt the show an i dint want to do that but it just goes to show there are some horrible people in this world dont it ?

Coventry has enough pillocks already, I wish people would stop sending more.

Jetex engines ... wow! Another memory jog! And making 'speed boats' utilising Bicarbonate of Soda! (Anybody remember the little plastic 'divers' that came free with breakfast cereal?)

Only ever entered one modelling competition when I was about 10, came second in my age group and never saw my model again. When I went to collect it at the end of the show it had been nicked.

Bit late to the thread, I started at about 8 years old in the 90s, carried on until 16 an then had a break for a few years, resuming at 30ish. Now 38, young at heart though!

At 38 I'd call it just plain Young....you lucky stiff! Just look at all the bench time you will have to look forward to ;) :thumb2:

I started in the sixties with aircraft 1/72 as was the norm then, early ones I remember were a Black Defiant and a Red Arrows 'Folland Gnat', as well as the Spitfire and Hurricane of course!
Married early at 19 and 3 kids turned up in quick order, so no money or time for model making from age 10 till around late twenties when I had a 1/12 scale Tamiya Lola bought for me and that got me back in! made a few 1/9 and 1/12th Motorcycles as that is my real passion, then stopped again until around 4 years ago.
We have sold up our house and most possessions and are now full time House sitters, looking after homes and pets while owners are away...
Pretty relaxing lifestyle travelling all over Europe for over 10 years now, but it does make me smile when I see and hear of peoples 'bench time' as I am usually using the kitchen table in various locations and like looking back on my few builds over the last 4 years and remembering where I was when I made them!
Storage obviously is a problem so I sold several on Ebay, the fun is in the build anyway.........
