So here it goes.

The poll is a bit stupid but hope a bit of fun.

But serious answers also will be taken into account when choosing the winner. the winner will not be one who chooses all options in the poll. They will be considered complete prats.

My time at school was absolute fun I enjoyed every moment. I had the time of my life with friends sport. The teaching was first class made that way by imaginative teachers.

Maths was fun made so by a teacher who turned learning into a competitive thing but matching groups at the same level.

So have a go. Not serious just a bit of fun. There were some who just hated it. I got up in the morning with the excitement of what was to come. Learning sport and total friendship.

Laurie :D :D:D:D:D:eek:

I was the third generation Muddle at my school. Treated with 'oh God not another one'.

So you tell me, did I like school?

It did have its moments though. Cap for the cricket, the hockey and the rugby...

Liked some of the teachers, hated the rest.

Would I do it again. No bloody way. LOL.

Did have one teacher that I was very fond of.... Wonder what happened to her...

I hated school I was bullied from day one and it didn't stop till my last year when I finally had enough and beat the bully up. It was so bad I actually considered suicide. I wish I knew I only had to stand up to them from the start, my life would have been so different

I liked my time at school but I wouldn't say it was the best time of my life. Life got better when I started to get money to do what I wanted to do

I was bored ......... So we came to an arrangement when I was 15 ......... I didn't want to be there, and they didn't want me there ( I questioned things too much for their liking)........ So we parted company, and I don't regret it for one minute ....... I think the straw that broke the proverbial Camels Vertibrae involved the deputy head's daughter and me

Do it all again ??? ............ I'd rather poke hot needles in my eyes.

I enjoyed my time at school, we had some great teachers, particularly biology.

When we did human reproduction I was the joker who asked if we would do a practical. To be told "yes, if you are willing to donate your testicles for dissection."

That is not to say there aren't some things I would like to change, as they say "youth is wasted on the young"

I enjoyed school until I was 15, then I hated it. Did the bare minimum in my last two years of high school. I'd love to see some of those teachers again... Actually I bumped into one years later who used to give us the strap for small breaches such as having your socks down. He was of the old school system and retired soon after they abolished corporal punishment in NZ. Guess he couldn't bare to part with his cane. As for the old bitch that taught maths, I'd love to do a low flyby over her grave and wake the old cow up. The chemistry teacher, now she was the stuff of teenage boy dreams...

Oh, and the one lazy vote so far is mine :)

Hated it but when i left and started proper work realised that the short hours and loads of holidays were something i missed !!

Yes agreed Tony all of a sudden the real part of life was stuffed into a smaller space.

But the prize was being able to buy my little 125cc BSA Bantam. Then my world really opened up.

Feel for you. I have had 2 girlfriends that had depression from teachers bullying them. I've been singled out at work in a few jobs since leaving school and its really hard to deal with at times.

I hope things improved for you after school

Yes Dougie after school I became a defender of bullied people I would kick nine kinds of s@@@ out of anyone I found bullying anyone, I had loads of friends, till I realised they only liked me cause they were scared of me, and i realised I had become a bully, not like that now back to being a quiet unassuming person, the fact remains stand up to bullies, they are cowards at heart, I can't remember who said it but cowards die many times a hero only once.

I hated school, I had teachers that couldn't give a crap unless you were in the top 10 then you got attention heaped on you, I was bullied at the beginning, until I put two of them in hospital, one unable to have kids the other deaf in one ear. After that teachers viewed me with suspicion and no one really spoke to me after that even though some of those who were also being bullied by the same people. I learned more in my three years in the army than I ever did pretty much anywhere else.

I must have been lucky. They were all good disciplinarians, in the years of the late 40s and early 50s. No playing about disruptably . Also interesting as most of the boys and girls really got fed up with those who were a nuisance as we then all suffered.

But what I realised, after leaving school , was that the help they gave to those who were not doing so well , with a lot of dignity, was phenomenal.

For instance the maths teacher, a Mrs Luscombe (how about that memory after 60years), divided us into groups of 4 or 5 about 25 in the class. Then each group went along at the pace commensurate with their ability. But those not so good who had determination soon edged up to a higher ability group.

For me school was competitive both with my mates and myself. Great advantage of school was living in a crowd, the lively discussions and learning not only from teachers but also all those around you.

I enjoyed my school days, I loved learning, especially science and maths, and still do. Mostly though I remember all my mates and all the fun we had together, especially during the school holidays. Those were happy days for me. When I see the standard of education today I am disgusted with what it has become. Kids can leave school today and barely string a sentence together. Ask them to name the capital of say Australia or America and they haven't a clue. Ask them to perform even the simplest mental calculation and they can't, they have to have a calculator. Such a shame, what a waste of potential.
