Gordon Bennett Paul, how on earth do you do it. Astonishing work, build after build!!!
Thank you mate, that is very kind indeed.
It's really kind of easy 'Admiral' Bob...Paul is like a fine wine and a fine wine, always improves with age!!! Now of course I'm not saying he's like 80 years old or something...................

Allen, don't know about a fine wine a cheap lager might be closer.
You had better hide Allen lol
He is not far off mate the way I feel some days.
Already behind the couch Buddy!!!...

Following another very prompt delivery from John in the shop my paint arrived. The engine following a black pre shade received a coat of Tamyia Aluminium. This was followed with a very thinned down coat of Valleyo smoke. The details such as the HT leads and spark plug caps, battery and tray were then picked out. Then an oil wash with diluted W&N black was applied to pick out the details.

Final detailing will follow when this has dried thoroughly.

Next the sidecar gearbox was treated the same way as the engine with the exception that Tamyia dark yellow was used as well.

The frame halves have also received a coat of flat yellow ready for assembly.

cheers

Wow Cabernet 1943 Buddy, that wash really makes the details pop and sits nice in the nooks and cranny's where oil would accumulate. How long does the W&N oil wash take to dry??? Great work Paul!!!...

Thanks my friend It's my go to wash a lot cheaper than the after market washes and you can make it as thick or thin as you need. It doesn't take long to dry but I normally leave it over night just to make sure. What I normally do is leave it for about and hour then remove the excess with a soft brush dampened with white spirit.

That's a SUPERB finish! And great that you've detailed the painting steps taken - very helpful. :thumb2:

Very nice Scottie........is the white spirit used to thin the wash when you make it up or do you use another solvent?

The engine looks great Paul, oil & dirt collecting in the recesses, a bit confused by 'fine detailing will follow' though! Looks perfect to me as it is.

Just caught up again, and the workmanship is first class as always. Cannot add more to the comments as it has all been said.

All been said by the guys already....
.... all I can add is that,if you showed one of those pics on it's own to someone, they'd think it was the real thing!! ;)
Excellent stuff mate. :)
