Paul, it looks amazing.
I'd already told myself that I would try harder with the PE on my next kit but seeing what you achieve with patience and skill has really made me want to push on.

Truly inspiring.

Hi Dan, thank you. PE isn't for everybody it's a bit like marmite you love it or hate it. It doesn't always add anything as it is 2 dimensional and is in a lot of cases the kit part is just as good or even better.

I had to make those "Rampy" looking things when I did my Mercedes LG 3000 (Kfz. 384) fuel truck. I had no idea what they were but just knew someone would point out the lack of them if they weren't there. Rick H.

Rick, I must admit I don't remember seeing these on any other German kits but having said that I haven't made a lot of German soft skins.

Not much done today I have redone the notek I think it looks better now. Added the bulb to the top of the width indicators, see if you can guess what they are. Next hinges added to the doors. I will soon be adding some paint to the inside in readiness for the figures and roof.

Scottie, you may notice in many photos of cargo Protze, cargo 33s & high side cargo Opels, boards for anti-ditching attached to the cargo bed sides. These are larger than those in your model and not always present. Don't know why some 1500s have them & some not. I don't profess to understand fully the Teutonic design methods of that period:smiling2:.

It went pretty much as follows:—

German Army: “We need <vehicle type>.”
Manufacturer 1: “Here, have this.”
Manufacturer 2: “Here, have this.”
Manufacturer 3: “Here, have this.”
German Army: “Thanks, we’ll take them all!”

This lead to great convenience, like not being able to push stuck trucks out of the Russian mud because their bumpers were all at different heights.

The Merc is looking superb and your making a cracking job of the fiddly bits .....does it come with all that etch?

All armies have been guilty and still are today of failing to have a standard all be it to a lesser extent.

True, but the German army in the Second World War was one of the worst offenders of all. Of course, given how the National Socialists ran the country, that is not overly surprising.
