My previous reviews have caused wars and people leaving the site, so fingers crossed

John did ask for a review so blame him lol. Was going to do this Tuesday but mum's not at all well, so other things on my mind sorry.

Right here goes

I have always had problems keeping a ships hull safe from damage etc after it's painted. Especially adding the superstructure. Tried a foam device, because it was of course only one size, its not much use. Placed hulls on bubble wrap but it still moved around.

Most kits have useless plinths which do not securely hold the hull.

So noticed on eBay a 3D building berth, available small for 1/700 - 1/350 or large 1/350 - 1/200. I bought the large one, £22.50 with free p/p. The seller on eBay was very helpful, fast delivery as well.

The black strip is sticky backed foam packing for the clamps. The round discs are padding for underneath

Very easy to assemble

Our new rescue moggie, Luna has no interest at all!

To adjust simply undo the wingnuts and slide the brackets to suit. To mount a 1/200 hull, move the bracket to the other side of the arms support moulding.

Minimum clamp size: 3.8cm, small hull max width 9cm, larger hull max width 19.5cm.

Below max width 19.5cm

Did the clamps up tight and no marks on the paint.

Only slight issue, the actual clamps are flat so not a perfect fit on the destroyers sloping hull. However the clamps should have no problems holding the mainly flat hull sides of a battleship.

Looks a well designed and made product. Will use on the German destroyer I am building once the hull is painted, that of course will be a real test.

The seller also makes clamps for planes, cars etc.

Hope this is ok and of use

Bob

Looks well suited to the task Bob. I think I’d be tempted to fix the base to a wider offcut of chipboard or MDF to increase its stability before putting a big boat in it though.

Hi Tim, was wondering about doing that plus using bubble wrap along arms the clamps are attached too, but not fixed to them?

That looks well made and not a bad price. Worthwhile Bob and if it saves one disaster then a good buy.
I reckon the flat faces to the clamps could be easily sorted with 4 triangles of hard foam temporarily fixed to the clamps with a bit of double sided tape.
All the best to your mum at this tough time.

Just found the seller on eBay. A lot of useful stands at reasonable prices.

Hi Jim, good advice. The seller was quick to reply to my question and was very helpful to be fair.

Don't think mum's got too long, every visit is now distressing as she's lost so much weight and is so frail
