Well it’s been a struggle to get much bench time. Been a struggle to get up off the couch too :smiling5:
Dunno about you guys and girls but the dark winter months come and I would much rather hibernate till it’s over!!

Anyway......so with a glass of red, I set to work and began adding the etch. Also chiselled the nuts off the door hinges. Added recessed heads with a drill.


Hoping to get some time on Friday night to build some more...,.and sink a few beers :tongue-out2:

PE looking very neat Si. Will you use every piece, I always end up with some that are either to small to make any difference, or they fly off into the ether.

Sorry Si late again if ever a monument was erected to Simon it would have to include one of these ,I have a bag of blackboard rubbers with me if the rabble at the front start they've got one comming might be old now but I can still find my range ,warned if they've read this if not they won't know what hit them ,its OK not dangerous was standard practice when I was at school ,now having your slate broken over your head is something else. Hiya mate, glad you like how it’s progressing. You know, I did look at the springs and under-gubbins for tweaking, but talked myself out of it! Think I’ll avoid etch and engines on my next build!

Late night update. Removed the moulded on deflectors from the roof and replaced with the etch ones...




More of the various parts added


Made up PE rear left light, I’ll to other side tomorrow...


not a bad PE set so far, hope to get some more done tomorrow :smiling4:

BTW, the tires go on the axles and not under them......Just saying...........

Trying to be super neat and use as much of the etch as possible..... thoroughly enjoying the build too :smiling4:

Managed a little more bench time this afternoon. First thing I had to do was have a quick sort out of the work area!
In between plastic shavings, dust, tools and instructions it had all got a bit messy!
A quick tidy and wipe down, a mug of tea and ready for more business.....






Not sure what I’ve done since the last post so here’s a picture from each side...







Then I moved onto a pudding. I took the various ingredients off the sprue and placed them into a bowl...





After a quick mix with my Mr Hobby stir-o-matic 5000, I then poured the kit into a lined ovenproof tin adding some aftermarket parts to the upper hull....




and cooked @150c for 45 minutes until golden brown....







A little side project. Assembled the main parts and added the accessories



Off for a snooze on the couch now :smiling4:

Late night update.
Been sneaking to the bench here and there over the course of the day so not a great deal done, but progress nonetheless.
I’m using the blog of SimonT’s 223 as a reference and I’m trying to replicate the alterations he used.
The Ariel masts in the kit where completely replaced with the PE part and some brass tubing left over from the T34 build....




I thought I had a nice sequence of pictures to show the mods to the exhausts...... but turns out I just have a boring picture of the original bits then a picture of it all glued into place :smiling5:

I’ll take a few more pics tomorrow So you’ll have to use your imagination a bit.... I glued some pewter strips around the silencer boxes to creat a lip and made u shaped plastic replacement exhaust ends.
you can just about make out the silencer in the second picture....







The jack and the fire extinguisher got the treatment and were hacked, sanded, rebuilt or bent then stuck into place...


This is moving along nicely, would be nice to get it done before Christmas Day....more so as I’ll be temporarily evicted from the kitchen table so we can all sit for Christmas lunch!

Cheers Allen, don’t think I’ve stopped eating all weekend!! To many lebruchen knocking about :hungry:
I’ve not had chance to scout all the other builds going on recently, will see what you’ve been up to later!
