Steve - still as bad as before :smiling5:

Thanks Scottie

Jim - watercolour pencils are good for weathering. I have a load of those AK pencils but have found that a £3 tin of Wilko watercolour pencils does a better job. They are harder than the AK so keep a better point

The small chips are all done with a pencil (roughly based on a photo) as is the exhaust rust

The dumbbell things are for my eye make up :smiling5:
The ends are closed cell foam and they are handy for wiping off excess washes, oils and pigments and for blending same
I get 100 in a pack from Amazon for about £6

Thanks Simon
Are the pencils used dry or do you dip them in water? Whatever it is a very effective chipping method.

You can use them both ways Jim - to do the small chips I just lick the end of the lead and it softens just enough to leave a small bit behind when tapped on the model

You can also draw with them dry and then blend with water

Have just sprayed all the bits with Ultra Matt to take the shine off and make it ready for adding some dusty pigments

Hi Simon
Really looking excellent. What is going on here - watercolour pencil? What are those dumb bell things?

Jim
Hi Simon...showing your feminine side with the make up tray. I like the instant tyre eye shadows and seat. Ahh, the pencil liner for your eyebrow in deep vermillion. :tears-of-joy: :tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Richard

Richard - the tray is actually a ceramic paint palette :smiling5: Not sure the vermillion suits me.....

last night (or rather early this morning - 1am as I was off to bed) I mixed up a slurry of pale sand pigment and thinners and blathered it all over the place

It has now dried off and left it looking like it has been dipped in mud, all previous layers pretty much obscured

Now need to cut it all back without totally ruining the previous layers

Thread owner
Steve / Jim - I shall hopefully attack it tonight after work and find out if I have ruined it completely or not

Thanks one and all

Scottie - only loosely assembled so far. Wheels, passenger seat, steering wheel and Bren gun all need to be fixed on. They are sat here ready for final assembly

Jim it's alright for Simon to lick the pencil point, but we mere mortals should refrain from such pastimes.
Looking good Simon, looking fwd to seeing the final result.

Thanks John - need to decide what I am doing about the crew figures before fixing the internals
