Got home from work 19:20, sat down with a cuppa. Next thing I was waking up at 21:30. Made some dinner fell asleep again at 23:00. Woke up 02:30, fell asleep, woke up 03:15, fell asleep, woke up 04:35, got to bed at 5am, alarm went off at 5:50am!

I don't know how you cope.
The wheels fit well and the 'improved' frame is typical of your detailing.

spent my bank holiday working on this adding 0.25mm rivets etc

(just noticed that one of the rivets has fallen off)

I decided to only add the rivets on the top side since it took so long to do and the underside will not be seen once embedded in mud

Back to work tomorrow (or later today as it is now stupid o'clock again) so probably not much more progress until the weekend

Spent most of my free time this weekend using my model making to create a cover for my Dads radio - the dementia/Alzheimers makes it confusing for him having so many buttons. The cover blanks out the majority of buttons and just leaves the on/off visible

I did however manage to get a little more done

The tail is now attached and has the beginnings of some spring mounts top and bottom

Great work on this Simon. Lifting it into another league all together. The radio idea is a cracker as well. Have you thought about taking that to an Alzheimer’s charity? It could be a useful adaptation for many similar sufferers ?

Cheers Tim - the Alzheimer's Society sell a DAB with cover which is where I got the idea. Costs over £100 though so basically you are paying £70 for the cover on £30 quids worth of DAB radio. Since my Dad already had a DAB I thought it would be rude not to have a go at making a custom cover to fit it

It fixes with three velcro pads and inside is fitted with bracing that runs around the other buttons to stop the cover pushing on them
Had to extend the on/off button as his dexterity is not the greatest so it needs to be easily pushable - looks a bit poor but it functions and is white against the black so it stands out


Back to the task in hand......

I managed to get some time to add the springs to the tail

Looks a little wonky at large zoom but much better in 1:1
Should be ok after a little cleaning up once it is all set

A few more rivets required and then the main build will be complete - tracks to sort then

What a plonker - I was looking at this and thinking something didn't look quite right when it hit me

I only have half the necessary springage :disappointed:

There should be four springs at each position not two

Rather a large boo boo that will necessitate pulling it apart and starting again, preferably when less tired

As Ian has said hope you can do this without causing too much damage as it looks superb. The radio adaption is a great idea and definitely overpriced by the charity, such a simple idea but so helpful for your dad.

first set of four installed - not sure they were worth the hassle though. Took over an hour just for these
