Simon.
I think you broke the bat so you could have some fun! :smiling: Still all good practice .
John.

Jim - did take some careful drilling to ensure his fingers didn't fall off as well

John - I may be mad but not that mad :smiling:

Managed to get him sanded down and re-primed so all ready for a second attempt

At least the bat should survive this time

Dont put a magnet next to this one!:thumb2: :smiling3:
I admire your tenacity to get the job done. Sadly I would have binned it by now. I hope things get easier for you

Thread owner
Steve,

binning it would have been a bit of a waste :surprised:

only a minor set back and the steel reinforced bat should be capable of surviving anything I do to it

Finally got around to trying this one again last night

sorry about the crappy pics - really should use my camera not the phone

Base was Tamiya flat earth - all painting then done with VJ and some W&N sepia acrylic ink

boots were blocked in with leather brown, lined and shaded with camo black brown then highlighted with light rust, orange and finally vermillion

tunic and trousers blocked in with english uniform then shaded with camo black brown and highlighted with iraqi sand - in reality it isn't as dark as the pics suggest

the bat was blocked in with a golden brown then a small amount of ink

the jumper has been blocked in with deck tan

Thanks for looking in

Yep. Looks good thus far.
Are you going to research public school cricket jerseys to put some authentic colour onto it?
Or is that going to unnecessary extremes?
A very nice subject. Enjoy yourself.

Nice job.
Now, did any cricketing pro's join the RFC? I'm not trying to catch you out - pardon the pun - just raising the option of giving this guy a name...?
I know what you mean about blown up photos. They scare me too.
Enjoy...

Thanks Ian - I don't know how proper figure painters manage to get theirs looking so good at any zoom level

Hi Simon,

:tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy: I'm having similar problems with my close up shots too. I suspect I shouldn't crop the images as the pixels get distorted when blown up or I must be horrible at blending.

Your figure is looking good despite of the close ups.

Cheers,
Richard

What a great idea for a figure, one /i had not seen before. You are doning it justice, especially the leather of the boots.

Hi Simon
"Our own worst critic" - so true here. He actually looks rather good. Photos blown up to greater than actual size just ain't fair!
Jim
