Jim - would usually use brass or copper wire, don’t have any problem bending it, but just happened to have the plastic rod to hand

Are the legs intended for scale? :)

Looking very good with those thin mudguards on, and they almost hide the scratchbuilt link too :)

With the fenders on, it now looks a little more R2-D2ish than before. I suspect Jakko, one won't be able to distinguish the scratched link once the master has worked his paint magic.:smiling3:

No, they are for keeping my a*** off the ground - but they also double as a workbench

Managed to get a coat of Halfords primer on followed a few hours later by a coat of Mig Ammo One Shot black (which I must say they have put in a bottle with a stupid lid - rather than the usual screw type it has a push flip action. Great when opening but to close you have to push the messy paint covered bit - paint splatters everywhere then dribbles down the side)

very nearly covered the added link with the track guard however under paint it doesn't look too bad

You gotta love the better mouse trap crowd out there!! I suppose now one must cover the d*mned thing with a tissue or towelette to prevent errant spatter from projecting itself all over the place. I guess the more product you waste closing this mess up the more they get to sell you in the future. Nice close up of the missing link...fantastic result also. Cheers, Rick H.

Hi Simon
Fenders and that link look perfect. That paint looks to have gone on nice.
Manufacturers tricks to get you to waste stuff so you buy more :anguished:

Nope. If they can't use sensible packaging then I don't buy their products. Simples.

Thanks Jim - yes, the paint sprayed nicely straight from the bottle so no problem there

If they have used a standard thread on the bottle I should be able to swap the lid for a more usual eye dropper type from an old bottle

Simon.
Yes I agree about those flip lids, I just unscrew the whole thing now and pour it in to a mixing plastic shot thing, having done what you had.

Some very nice mods there, don't suppose the rest of the guys realise just how small and thin those links are, so brilliant that you were able to make one. Agree as well about the track support bar, of course not being a member of the Dark Side my track guards just hang !
Great build.

Steve - there could be some green involved

John - cheers. Probably a good idea with the lid. Have checked and the thread is like nothing else I have so can’t swap top

Think the link was 8x5mm

Odd that they didn’t get the support bar the right length

Well there were quite a few big errors when you come to think of it let alone that bar. Think it was a troublesome build, but am pleased with the outcome esp in my dio where the ground work hides a lot of of mine .:smiling2: Glad you suggested it.

John - well, only the entire suspension, engine deck, front hatches, guard supports...... hmmm, ok that's quite a bit for such a small beastie :smiling5:
I still rather like it though

Got their BT-2 now - looks ok in the box

Well, it now has paint

Previously I would have just painted it green and have done with it but now I have gone and bought a 4BO modulation set so it now looks like a clown car

Hopefully it will tone down a bit with some washes etc

I was just thinking: that shading effect looks overdone to me :) With a bit of luck you can tone it down a bit with some additional layers of washes, glazes, etc.

I don’t think I’ve really got the hang of this painting lark :smiling5:

It's in the same colour scheme as your avatar Simon!
