SimonT - Tamiya 1:35 Sturmmorser Tiger (AAGB)

Thread owner
Morning all,

decided I should try and progress the S/Tiger and make a start on a base so spent most of Saturday making this

stig-154_2020-5-10.jpg
still very much a work in progress especially the roof - will need to punch a lot more tiles

loosely based on a building in one of the period Sturmtiger photos

I think this is only the second time I have used the blue foam for anything substantial, the first being the lean-to for the Range Rover

Quite nice to work with, sands and cuts easily but you have to be careful not to get unwanted marks in it

the large barn doors ended up with a repair plank - not just for added interest but because it is actually a repair panel
I was a little heavy handed making the door and snapped the bottom corner off

I tried to make the yard using a texture rolling pin but the pattern came out rather faded in the centre so I am having to go around each stone with an embossing tool

roughly where it will sit

there will be two loading rails and spare shells to fill up the front space

Thanks all :thumb2:

did some more work on the roof

changed to punching the tiles out of Tamiya box card rather than the blue foam - gives sharper tile edges plus it is free unlike that blue foam which is expensive stuff

downside is that punching the much harder card takes its toll on the fingers

Morning Simon
That looks good. I like the tile punch. I've seen punches like that for leaves but not tiles.

Morning Jim - exactly the same kind of punch from Green Stuff World in Spain. There may be others selling them now like there are with the leaf version but this was the place I first found them

Hi Paul - I do have a rubber deadblow hammer. Had considered thumping it but I don't think the alloy the punches are made from is up to it. I have already bent one of my leaf punches with finger pressure

roof progressing nicely - not much of a spectator sport though

stig-160_2020-5-12.jpg
made some nice chunky door furniture for the large barn doors

Nice progress Mr.T, I love the variegated coloring of your roof tiles....realizing of course, they will be a uniform shade once painted. Rick H.

Very nice work indeed Mr T. From a Feng Shui point of view I would have the Tiger pointing in the other direction

Rick - blue are foam, white outside of the box, brown inside of the box. Hopefully once painted it won’t matter which is which

Steve - has to go that way as loading was from the right side. They put down two wooden beams and rolled the rounds up to the side of the vehicle below the hoist

John - :smiling3: timber is overdone but should hopefully paint up well

Jim - thanks

Morning all,

this one has been plodding along in the background and after a concerted effort last night the roof is now complete

stig-161_2020-5-18.jpg
still needs the edges trimming back and it may need some part tiles adding to tidy things up a bit along the cut line

back to scribing cobble stones next

Thread owner
Morning Steven - thanks. Took a lot more tiles than expected but I got there in the end - just hope they look ok painted up
