Hi All

i have taken a leaf out of Andy B's book and have been working on a few 1/285 scale Ww2 dioramas:

Are the gun emplacements based on the ones in the channel islands?? Nice work Peter
Steve - the first one, the one with the Stug is fictional, but the other two are based on parts of a Victorian fort which the germans added some AA guns, here is a photo of the ara now, the two area i modelled are circled, along with a very poor WW2 photo showing the weapons in place.

Cool. I’ve always liked very small-scale, small dioramas (having built a couple myself), and these look really good.

Jakko

they are surprisingly fun, next on my list is one featuring a Scammel transporter with a Stug as its load.

Excellent work on these Peter. I had to put my magnifiers on to see them on the screen! Bob will love the Stugs. you are adding to these little scenes. :thumb2: Rick H.

Makes me eyes hurt! :thumb2: ;) ......beautiful job on this Peter, looking forward to D-Day. Rick H.

Excellent stuff Peter. They are jewel like in appearance and execunion. I know there are a few manufacturers in this scale, which one are these?

That brings back memories.....I briefly dabbled with 1/300 wargaming on my youth.... So not that far off from these!!

Well done.

Andrew

In my youth I think Heroics and Ross were the only 1/300 game in town….not the best models really. I’ve still got some 1/300 Napoleonics and some WW1 aircraft somewhere…..

Certainly have the wow factor, could you show one against a bottle of Vallejo or Tamiya please Peter.

Hi Guys

thanks for the compliments.

All of the models in this thread will be 1/285 scale with the vehicles and figures from GHQ, really remarkable detail : https://www.ghqmodels.com/collections/1-285-6mm-scale

the tree in this one was one of a few which Andy Belsey kindly sent me a few years ago when I has my first attempt at this scale.

For my D-Day dio I will be doing a very minor detailing work - drilling open a couple of hatches so the figures will fit in. For some other ideas there will be some conversion work.

i guees I am the same as others in having a 'bucket list' of diorama idea which I would love to build in 1/35 but know that I'm not going to get around to them. This scale gives me the opportunity to delve into that bucket list and get a few built.

Peter

Sorry, I've only just caught up with this! Great work Peter. Lovely little dioramas. They can be addictive, can't they?!
