As requested by a couple of members, here's some pictures of my model of a wrecked Egyptian T-62 tank, destroyed by Israeli armour during the 3 week Yom Kippur War.

The kit is an early Tamiya 1/35 offering. Complete with those 'Awful' vinyl tracks!

All brush painted with Vallejo Model Air acrylics.

In my mind's eye, I've tried to model the tank after having received three penetrating hits in quick succession. No violent, wreck everything, explosion, just a fair bit of external damage followed by a massive internal fire.
So right or wrong, this is my interpretation.

Cheers all, and thanks for looking.

I love the way you take a shit model and make even more shit out of it which in turn makes it shit hot :smiling3:.

Hi Ron
Looking at some of the b&w photos I can hardly believe it is a model. The build and the photography are superb.

Ron

As others have said that really is stunning work.

You should be extremely proud of your efforts.

That's it, I'm burning my brushes and taking up axe juggling. I'll master that much quicker than I'd ever achieve this level of realism. Astounding work.

You went an' gone an' did it di'nt ya!? Took a perfectly good tank an' turned it into a superb wreck! That's a fabulous piece of work Ron so thanks muchly for the extra pics.

Wow, thanks ever so much to folks who have posted the most excellent comments.

Dave, I'm chuffed you wanted to see more pictures. Thank you.

Once again, thank you one and all for your terrific posts....

I need a beer!

A mini tutorial....
Take a pair of electrical snips, a pair of pliers and rip and bend the thing apart. All sounds a bit brutal, but if you mess about worrying about bending this and that, you will fail!

Just hack it about, and if you snip off summat you didn't intend to, just stick it back on at a different angle.

Then paint the model as you would imagine shell impacts would be.

It's your model, and if you are happy with the end result, that is all that matters. There will always be modellers who could do better. That's life. Just be happy with what you produce.

Thanks again
Ron

Terrific job 570, the B&W shots are the whole story.... reminds me of a shot in the newspaper making headline news. Just beautiful Sir.

As you probably know Ron I am currently having fun reworking one of these golden oldies so I can spot the incorrect and missing bits a mile off (I know you're not bothered by such things)

BUT

I do like the overall look of your finished example, especially the B/W shots - you have a great knack of making them look like period news shots

Cheers Rick. I'm chuffed you like the wreck.

Simon. Quite right, I have no interest in correcting inaccuracies or adding missing bits that can be spotted on this model 'a mile off' . This build is purely an exercise in an attempt to model a wrecked tank - Any tank. That aside, I just try to do my best with whatever pops out of the box.

Thank you for your positive comments.

Folks, a few more pictures to round things off.

One simple question Ron.
Did you build, wreck and paint it OR build, paint and wreck it? :tongue-out3: Whatever it is superbly done.
Jim

Bloody hell Ron, that's a masterpiece if ever I've seen one, totally stunning work mate..

Just a though, but if you were to tone down the brightness of the pictures and add some ageing effects with 'photoshop etc' you'd have pics that would look like they were taken straight from a war report in the news... :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2:

Hope you don't mind, I've taken the liberty of having a quite 'fiddle'....oooeer misus

Any of those photos could be from a news report.
