Has anyone been watching the BBC adaptation of SS:GB on Sundays? I've been gripped by it thus far. I always hoped someone would bring the book to the big or small screen.

Never seen it Patrick but I'm told by collages it's quite gritty stuff ( I'll ha e to get on catch up sometime

Thanks

Robert

it is good, but why is the speech volume so low, not the first time BBC have had this levelled at them.

After part one I was a bit worried it wasn't going to live up to my hopes. But, part two has got things moving, so I think I'm in until the end now.

Some have blamed modern TV's because they have smaller speakers - cobblers - I don't have any problems with 'Call the midwife' or even, a lot of the characters in SS-GB, just the lead detective.

surely admitting watching 'call the midwife' is a problem !!:D, but shhh dont tell anyone i 'have' to watch it as its on the TV, when i am editing my Ice Hockey photos on a Sunday night, ;):)

Oh yes, Ok Steve, I 'have' to watch it as well as I'm tidying up my flower pressings.

See they (BBC) sorted out the sound levels this week, can actually hear what archer of the yard is saying . And what an explosive episode, German army crossing the SS, plotting to get the king to the states , who won't be welcome, to cyanide cigarettes to blowing up Marx's exhumation !!

Dont mind admitting i like 'Call the midwife'. Usually have a tear in my eye as well!.

Ive watched part 1 of SS GB. Its ok. Going to stick with it and hope it gets better. Just finished watching 'Taboo', which i thought was good.

Went with my wife and daughter to watch Patriot Day, havent been in a cinema so quiet for the last ten minutes (since Schindlers list) - you would hear a pin drop. Sure someone pointed the aircon blowers straight into my eyes :(

That is indeed cobblers. Many, including myself, play the sound through an audio system which cost considerably more than the television, and still can't decipher the mumblings of the main characters. The tendency is to turn up the volume, but then when things get really loud you have to grab the remote to turn it down again before the pictures get rattled off the wall! It is a very irritating phenomenon, and the BBC is not the only guilty party.
Cheers
Steve
