Superb Dave .
So time for some primer ,I always used to use mr hobby 1500surfacer but occasionally had problems with the acrylic paint coming away here and there probably more to do with my rough house weathering ,though I must say the stuff was beautiful to use and laid down smoother than the babys bot ,too smooth?. Anyway recent builds on here ive championed Ak one shot seems im one of the few no one seemed to get on with it ,must say I was chuffed when I saw the mr hobby aqueous surfacer wasn't aware it was out there.
You can guess where this is going ,so gave the jar a good whiz then added a good splash of aqueous thinner whizzed it up again and spooned some into the ab gave it a squirt on some printer paper still a bit thick so added more thinner all good so primed it up.
I always mix in the air brush cup ,from jars I recon one spoon equals two drops of thinner from a pippet ,from dropper bottles one drop equals one drop thinner from a pippet Iknow what your thinking but I keep track once thinned to my liking its easy to mix the same ratio when I run out of said colour im using.
This last pic shows what a lovely smooth bit of primer this is
As mentioned before any left over in the cup is used up practicing on the printer paper I never put any leftovers back in the pot.
I've a feeling the other half has got used to having the dining table back so after the mojo sabbatical were see how long it takes for the hints of keeping it tidier so arranged it all to look nice after I'd finished.

If I'm honest with you all and myself the lack of mojo stemmed from a bad day out with the airbrush I couldn't belive all my hard work went breasticls up threw the lot in the cupboard spent spring summer and autumn fishing jobs about the house etc I still thought a good job and popped in here every day bought kits bits and associated pieces but couldn't be bothered what it was that flicked the switch made me get this old half built effort to the bench(dining table) I dont know some of it I suppose was telling myself to grow some so what you mucked up just grow up.
After I'd finished building this it sat there for some time what if I suffer with the airbrush again ,but having bought the mr hobby aqueous surfacer it wasn't going to prime its self.......what was all the fuss about it was like riding a bike id certainly cut my nose off to spite my face.
So hopefully back in the groove put some colour down last night ,

Looks good with colour Dave, starting to bring out the character. Very much the epitome of an early war tank
Well did the above last night so fired up the compressor this morning ,as I said wanted to try and give it a translucent coat to give it some colour.........
I must say have enjoyed it all so far even thinking what next ,but anyway tomorrow will calm it all down with a filter coat ,im a great advocate of if your never going to see it dont bother building or painting it but usually paint the bottom of the hull in the same manner as the rest giving plenty of space to try out diffrent things ie filters etc before taking them up top.
The final coat was mr hobby aqueous 4BO when I buy these even tamiya as well I give them a good stir then top up with thinner to about the bottom of the neck or just above and give it another good whizz up this usualy makes it somewhere handy to spray straight from the jar (this is quite a well known thing) I put six spoons in the airbrush and did the whole thing with it. Advantage being no decanting mix in this tip in that no waste no chance of accidental contamination.I use AK paints I used them for the pre shading but if I had a go to choice it would be mr hobby acrylic or lacquer same with tamiya . Dave

Morning all , have given it a filter coat(Mig Filter green for khaki & olive drab) i found it a bit heavy pigment wise so thinned the backside out of it really just coloured thinners(cheap low odour white spirit from the Range). Then blocked in the tracks and wheels ,touched in bits and pieces with a mix of paler greens
So its about where I want it to start the weathering chipping fun stuff ,sorry its all been a bit picture and blah blah heavy hopefully next up will be the finished job.

Looking the part Dave, those paints have worked well .
Started picking at it ,certainly not used to doing this at this scale, must do the exhaust hopefully will pull the rear deck together a bit then

Just caught up with this Dave. Interesting thoughts on tracks. Great looking paint job on this wee beastie.
