WELL DONE Dave ive only got 8.411 lol an yes it is a lot of typein an now ive got pain in my typein finger lol

Just noticed I've been a member here for 13 years (you got a few years catch up to do Dave!) and 7000 posts - most of which have been authentic Black Country gibberish! Where did all that time go?

PS I know where the gibberish comes from - I can hear the insane cackling and giggling in my head all the time! And I fear it's getting louder!:tongue-out2:

an i love your INSANE CACKLIN AN SUCH as your blogs have given me so much laughter over the yrs like your rocket dio had me in fits of laughter when you start invokeing the gods lol :rolling: :smiling: an ive got that blog in my faves as if i feel a bit depreppesed i look that up an have a read an im laughin again an a lot happyier:thinking: you have a very weird sence of humour Dave (an no offence intened ) an while im on about you where does your (GERN ) handle come from as ive always wondered ? :rolling: :smiling::smiling: does it mean anything as im not that well versed in the english lanqaue as you can tell by my spellin lol ps an ive missed your blogs while you was off with your hand trouble but hope you are back now an lets have another funny blog off you ?

My 'handle' as you call it is from a Terry Pratchett book and the result of my poor memory. In the book, the kingdom of Djelibeybi (pronounced 'Jelly Baby') is ruled by a Pharaoh. Over the centuries, so much treasure has been buried with the dead Pharaohs that the kingdom can no longer afford to put any in the pyramids. Instead, dead Pharaohs are supplied with models of all their treasures - boats, chariots, palaces etc. I wanted to name myself after the guy who made all the models - Grinjer. Instead, I picked the name of his rather hapless and dim witted assistant - Gern - which sorta suits me better!

They should oughta be compulsive reading in schools. Much better than those old books written in a language no-one uses any more. What's the point of trying to learn the language from them? Might as well try teaching English in French or Latin!

I was almost always taught English in Italian... but on-line dictionaries often (and I really mean "often") save me from disaster! :tongue-out3::nerd::smiling6:.
Probably, I also own many to some Mr. Wodehouse, Mr. E.A. Blair and Mr. Cornwell :smiling4: and to the gentlemen on this forum :relieved: :cool:
