Takom Bismarck secondary turret

Sorry Bob who? :smiling:
Good to see you stranger, welcome back. Nice looking build. It would be good if the manufacturers did big scale kits of all the interesting parts of the big ships along with the turrets. ships catapult's, bridge sections ,AAA etc.

That photo kind of explains why they only made the auxiliary guns in 1/35 and the main guns in 1/72.

Hi Chris

They were 5.9 inch and I think about 24/25000 yrds. Will have a look about the reason for the range finder on only these??

Thanks for your kind words

Quite possibly all controlled centrally from the same rangefinder?

From what I have found, they were fitted to provide data if the secondary directors were knocked out and fitted to the middle turrets as they were more stable and less affected by the sea.

Great ,but still sad you have gone over to the wet side Bob . :crying:
Maybe one day you will build that big StuG .

The metal barrels have turned up, so added blast bags in different positions. Got to sort out the horrible seams. taped to show positions20230510_150213.jpg20230510_150157.jpg
Only annoying bit is the barrels are not hollow

is it easy enough to drill them deep enough down to give the impression they are ?

They looked recessed enough that painted black in there should look fine.

Hi yes, have a photo of the actual turret with one fitted but to only one barrell!
Maybe they were doing alignment checks on the barrel or cleaning the barrel with no tampion? I used to watch the gunners doing such checks on the 4.5's on a couple of the ships I was on!!
