Tamiya 1/12 Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR ’20

Cheers gents. :smiling3:

Simon, the rim decals weren't too bad, I cut right up to the decal to remove most of the carrier film so they butted against the rim quite nicely. The tyre decals were another matter, 6 out of 8 split but I managed to piece them together. I only lost one completely, luckily Tamiya thoughtfully provided 2 spares.
That was lucky, the tyres are unbeliveably tricky to apply,
i have a few spares from other models because they do make the wheels stand out but a night mare to peal and apply

Morning all. :smiling3:

Progress has been made and I now have something that's starting to resemble a motorcycle.

Rear end was completed first.

Then attached to the frame along with the engine.

The body panels are already done (other than gloss coat), exhaust and radiator are painted, just needing some additional detail painting, so I guess it's on to the forks next.

Morning all. :)

Only a little bit of progress this weekend, I was out of the house for most of it.

Got some more CF done, as usual this took ages, particularly the front splitter/aero wing which alone was 12 seperate decals.

And finished up and fitted the exhaust, radiator and associated plumbing.

I've started cleaning up the forks, brakes & callipers and will have them in paint shortly.

Sorry Bob, completely missed this. That really is looking very good indeed, a top top finish.

And at least you don't have to worry about weathering like those of doing armour do!

Keep up the great work.

Cheers Andrew. :)

Even though I seem to be doing a lot of bikes recently I still consider myself mainly an AFV modeller. Saying that, it's easier to slap a load of mud or rust on something to hide a mistake than it is trying to get a perfect finish.

A lot of people can get a great finish to the eye but your finishes are just as good with a close up camera shot! Great stuff mate.

Afternoon all. :)

Another post, another load of carbon fibre parts.

Thankfully this is almost all the CF, there's just a few parts left for the handlebars.

Also got the front wheel and shocks done, just painting the handle bars now so should be able to get the front end on shortly.

Just the rest of the bodywork to go on and I'll stick pics in the gallery. :)

Wow amazing just amazing :thumb2:
did the braided hose come with the kit or an add on?

Looks brilliant ! Almost a shame to add the bodywork ;)
But - looking forward to the finished result .

This is looking fintastic Bob.
Those CF decals look like a lot of fun.

Cheers Ian. :)

They were trickier to work with than the decals for the Kawasaki (despite being the same brand), but with a good soak in hot water, liberal applications of solvent and use of a hot air gun they eventually complied.
