I have a day off, but no model to work on ! The space I use sits redundant. I'm on my fourth coffee. I've sorted my paints and brushes. Time for another coffee. There is just an outside chance postie will deliver the two models I ordered on Monday night. I might have another coffee whilst I think about this.

Some might know that I'm not the quickest builder around here, but as long as I have one on the go, I'm ok. But now I'm wondering is this what drug users feel like when they run out of 'gear'.............I suppose I could start the ironing...............maybe another coffee first.

Have a happy day building and painting you lucky people, I'll probably go and clean my airbrush, and then, yes, another coffee............

Regards

Colin M........

Hi Colin,

It is this lost and lonely feeling we all strive to avoid by building a stash! You know, if you can't build a kit 'cos your airbrush has died or you're waiting for a specific paint colour/set of decals - you can always build your stash by buying another kit .... or two .... or three ........

You do of course also realise you'll have to 'detox' from all this caffeine before starting your next build! If you don't 'the shakes' will get you and you'll have little nicks and scartches everywhere you've cut bits from sprues and pools of glue all over the surface of your kits!

The consolation is that you'll have at least one kit to gloat over while you're recovering so the withdrawal symptoms won't be so bad. Hope this helps!

Hiya Colin...i kinda know how your feeling. Not cause i dont have any kits to build, i have a whole stash, but ive been away from the bench last few days cause i promised my good lady i would start the decorating in our bedroom which i promised i would start 2 years ago !!!!

Well ive been decorating for 3 days now and im missing the model making like hell....so ive downed tools today and am at the bench instead, the decorating will still be there tomorrow so no loss really.

Going cold turkey is no fun in model making :-)

No sympathy for any of yer!

Bad planning all round. No model to make? I just have to pull my cord and in comes my bouncy nurse complete with the strip Scrabble board.....

After, we sometimes play musical chairs. I put a ZZtop c.d. on and we use just one chair, I sit down and tap my feet to the rhythm............

No models? Who needs 'em anyway!!

:nurse: Arg, look out, if she thinks she can catch me again with that needle to make me go to sleep, she has another th....................

Hi Colin, I understand what you mean about withdrawal symptoms. After my disappointing Eurofighter, I am having a few days off before starting my Tornado, but that still does not stop me each night dragging out he kit to look at the Sprues. Never mind hopefully your kits will have been delivered by the time you read this.

That nurse of yours deserves a medal Ron....how does she put up with you lol. :wheelchair:

I understand but my problem is what i call the box of shame. Its all the models i keep buying but just never get around to building. Its no longer a box its now a room and other half starting to get a bit cross because we cannot have a cup of tea anywhere without me steeling the coffee mixers lo.

WE UNDERSTAND

Waiting for the latest model to arrive is so painful. Thankfully, I had an email from John yesterday saying my latest reason for Kate ever divorcing me (should we ever get married) was on its way so I got up ten minuets earlier as I knew it would be here between 7:30 and 8:00 this morning. At 7:35 a big red van pulled up outside and I became the proud possessor of two new building blocks in the wall that my stash is becoming. Life just doesn't get any better.

By the way, the Brand new Airfix 1:48 BF109E looks a superb kit. They have even moulded the engine block into the fuselage halves with separate parts for the mounting frame. What, not a separate engine???? Nope, but a beautifully moulded one that probably would not be included at all in some 1:48 kits nearly twice the price. Airfix have really pulled the stops out with this one.

Colin, youve got to get a stash going! and cut down on the caffeine!!LOL cheers tony

Colin, it's at times like these that I find a nice cup of coffee helps to pass the time...

Hope the modeling drought doesn't last too long mate!

All the best

Paul

Sorry Ron, that should have read 1:49.8 as it is slightly under scale for 1:48

I hate it when I don't spot me mistakes cos I always know one of you lot will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well gentlemen, the postie came and left leaving only a letter from Everest double glazing - so I booked them for a visit next week - well I had to do something !!

Thank you all for your support and advice in this difficult time for me. However, all this talk of building a stash (Tony) has to end. I share this house with one woman and two girls. There is no room for a stash. Shoes and bags yes, a back log of unbuilt models no.

Bikerbart, I feel your difficulties are far greater than mine - decorating, oh good lord no. I feel for you, good luck.

NURSE, I believe Spanner570 might require even more attention !

Thank you Graham for reminding me about the new 1:48 scale kits on offer, if only, Shoes and bags remember !

Slupanter, thank you for your thoughts - my daughters very rarely visit Mc D's without comming back, er, shall we say empty handed.

Derek, I'm not up to speed on your Eurofighter, I'll hunt it out.

tr1ckey66, I think my drought will be over tomorrow, postie won't let me down two days in a row. I'll be at work, but I'm sure she'll deliver.

And finally, Gern, no worries about the need to detox from the caffine, I'm just reaching for a bottle of red now.................What a day !

Regards to all,

Colin M.

Hi colin so you've nothing to do eh well it is at times like these that i sit down to work out the next dio on paper if you're in the GB refine your dio ideas for it, mess around with sizes and figure and vehicle placement, then have some more caffine lol however everyone is correct i also have felt those blues so i built a stash i does make you feel better plus you get a bit of a high from shopping.

I feel so sorry for you Colin! If you had a house the size of the new Wembley Stadium, sharing with three females means you'd end up with a broom cupboard to store both your stash and your built kits. And even then you'd have to make room for the lawnmower!

You could always go Tony's route and build everything in 1/144. That way all you need is a few big pockets!

Colin...i have the perfect solution to rid you of this boredom that has been thrust upon you.....how about you become the "Agony Aunt" for the forum. People write to you with their problems, you know the sort of thing, "my brushes have gone limp, how do i get them working properly again", or "my airbrush splatters all over the place, where am i going wrong" that type of thing.

Im sure John would add such a section lol Hope the postie is not off sick today and you get your goodies!!!!!!! :-)

Perhaps we should all donate a kit into a central emergency Aid Station. Then in the event of someone suffering famine or drought they could apply for 'Model Aid" and relieve could be sent without delay.

'Break glass in case of emergency' I like this idea !!

Gern, too true. I seem to recall a physical law of something like 'nature deplores a vacuumm' it certainly does in my house !

But agony aunt, I'm afraid I couldn't do the postion the justice it deserves. And guess what, postie didn't deliver today !
