So a new project can take off, enough components have arrived. A laser cut MDF/printed paper lo relief factory unit, the 3D printed forklift and pallets, some modern concrete fenceposts, i have a 3D printed 2020 Toyota Hilux coming. And some sets of modern figures. Plus a couple of canibalised AFV kits n bits.
Think Bruce Crompton, Weald Foundation or any military vehicle restoration scenario.

I built out the lo relief building with foamboard, at an angle onto a 275 x 225mm foamboard base bonded onto a pictureframe.
Basic dio placement starting. Something I've wanted to do for ages, and can be realised due to 3D offerings.

This will be fun, and hopefully a bit different

Yep, certainly different and a good idea for Dio Nick :)
Bits look good and the building is especially impressive!
Will enjoy watching this develop mate, cracking stuff :)

Interesting project Nick. That 3D Toyota looks quite something stuck on all its supports. Are there many places now doing 3D printing of models?

I found the Toyota on Etsy from a Polish vendor £20 but it will add to the modern context of the build, search on Ebay and ok they may have railway modelling applications but there are some good sets available

TBH the building is an impressive little thing for a tenner, and has a lot of possibilities.

Nick,
Looks like a nice idea. The building looks great and as you say is full of possibilities. I will pull up a chair and follow along.

So progress, will be picture heavy as I'm chuffed with it, in both LED & daylight....... the base, a piece of foamboard, textured with a suede brush, marked out. painted...... tamiya wooden deck tan in a patchy fashion, a filter of Tamiya flat green, Tamiya IJN light grey patches, an oil wash in cracks n slab edges, then a dry chalk pastel buf pigment..... then fixed, a second oil pinwash and staining.

I masked off bands for the yellow warning lines and spongepainted them in...

Then i built up verges with wallfilla and aggregates, brown paint..... when 80% cured i added PVA, sterilsed soil, when that cured off PVA again and a woodland floor flock with 5mm summer static grass added..... The 3D concrete fenceposts arrived, so i planted some this a.m. lol

Perforating the Esci/Italeri 'range target' Sherman hull.

I reckon woodworm has mutated into steelworm.
I really like what you're doing with the building.

I had a delve into my stash, looking for a kit, i dug out this Academy Studebaker cckw, knowing there is a Airfix/Heller GMC cckw in the box, then i paused, went into loft, box S5, and low and behold a Heller GMC cckw was found, prebuild 10+ years ago but good enough parts for the dio.

I may yet use unbuilt one for the restoration project, shelf queen parts as yard bumpf.... doner parts.

Nice! You’ll have to do an SBS on those concrete slabs. Colouration is excellent.
Cheers Tim
I will do another section and do an SBS of it, concrete is IMHO a very hard subject to get 'right' colour and tones.
I impressed myself here lol
