No mate,I don't :)
Having the brass stuff in the kit,I looked into it all.
And ,it is quoted as 7.62... (which is mentioned as .30 calibre)... But not 303 ;)

I thought American mgs were 30 cal and 50 cal. 303 was British wasn’t it? Seem to remember Canadian supplied rifles (early war after Dunkirk) were .300 as well.

This is what I'm going on guys...

Bits are as such...

... And some interest type bull coming(Don't like get embroiled in this type of thing normally, but in this case, and unusually for me,I have checked it out :).. so I will answer ;) )....

30 cal M2/AN is that. It’s not to be confused with the 50 cal M2/AN and the 20mm M2/AN which were also used on aircraft…..both army and navy, hence the AN bit of the name.

Both Smithsonian and IWM both state 30cal for the Tarpon. Here endeth my input!!!

Thanks guys...
.. but,and a heresy comment coming up! , :),.. I'm just a modeller,and only an average one at that...
.. hence,if I think it's "kinda right", it'll be fine. :)
I looked to see what was recommended/true,.... If it's not QUITE right then I'm not particularly bothered if I'm honest ;)

I wouldnt know the difference if you fitted a spud gun mate Lol

Last update for this evening...
The crew figures, persevered with,(this is in extreme close up,so not as bad as they look),...IMG20230508193219.jpg
....they might look half decent in the end, especially under the closed canopy :smiling3: ...
and now the 303 ... Or was it 20mm,.. or 50 cal... Or 88mm.. ...
Oh,I know.. ... 7.62!! ;) ...

... Kit one chopped out,and shiny one installed... This is starting to become a habit!! ;)

Crew look perfectly fine. They'll look good installed.
Shooty thing looks very smart. Metal aftermarket barrels are worth while if for no better reason than they are straight!! Quite a few styrene barrels I've come across have had a distinct curve :rolling:

The early Tarpon was basically a Grumman TBF-1, with exactly the same armament. FAA mods were pretty much limited to the internal layout. They had One 30cal forward firing from the cowling, one 50cal in the turret, and one 30cal in the ventral location. Later versions replaced the 30cal in the cowling with two 50cal fitted in the wings to give the aircraft better strafing ability.

Looking good, who cares what the gun is as long as it looks good, says the man who has only built very few AFV's and no wingy things.

Andy.

.... So then, despite it being Rach's Birthday today,I did get some stuff done :) ....
Got a bit fed up by being delayed by working out how some bits go together,(the instructions really are THAT vague. :( ),and the crew....
....SO...I just got stuck in....

IMG20230509173901.jpg
They ain't perfect by a long shot,but they'll do when it's all closed up :) ...
And all along....
IMG20230509174847.jpg
... shortly after this I discovered that the bottom of the control panel needs to be chopped off to get the 2halves of fuselage to go together!! :( .... Nevermind, I'm kinda getting used to that sort of thing with this build!!
Despite all of that,I'm sure this can turn out ok. ;)

Crack on Mr. Smiff.......we got faith in your abilities to chop it out the way and Moggle on! :thumb2: ;)
