The release of a Tamiya 1:32 aircraft is a real modelling event and now the next one, a Mosquito, has been announced the speculation has already begun on other forums about what Tamiya will release next in 1:32.

In 2016 no doubt they will repeat the usual pattern and release another version of the Mossie, but what about 2017?

They have their tooling for a merlin engine and there is one very famous Merlin powered plane that has not been adequately done in 1:32 - the Hawker Hurricane. There is the old and poor Revell tooling and the limited edition PCM kit but none from a major player so this would really be my personal favourite as a Tammy 1:32 release.

But then they also have an engine tooling for another well known WW2 US bird as well - the P47. It might be too much to expect them to release another Brit bird after the Mossie so a P47 must be a contender..

Mind you they have not done a German 1/32 yet. But then there are many Luftwaffe examples out there by just about everyone else. Dragon and Eduard both have produced 109s that might deserve the definative label. The Hasegawa 190 has always been well regarded and Revell have just produced another that has had some good reviews, but I expect that would not put Tammy off. Trumpy have an excellent 262 that would be hard to beat and Dragon a 110 that is also outstanding. So there would be a lot of competition for a new Tammy Luftwaffe prop.

Maybe they will surprise us all and take a risk. A 1/32 Boulton Paul Defiant maybe, or a Beaufighter, maybe a swanky colourful Italian or French bird - but perhaps we really are entering the realm of fantasy here.

If I was to put money on it - I would gues the 2017 release will be a P47 Jug....

Alan so far they have produced in their WW2 1/32 series:

Three Spitfires, a Mk IX, a Mk VIII and a Mk XVI

Two Mustangs, a D and a K

Two Zeros, an early Pearl Harbour version and a later version

Two Corsairs, a birdcage and bubbletop

and the Mossie to come......

You could describe each of these as the best kit of its type in any scale, though there is some competition for that accolade.

I have always fancied the P-38 now that would be something nice to see in 1/32 with engine detail 37mm canon and 4 .50 Brownings ammo boxes etc etc super chargers the list for after market would be huge...... However a jug would be nice even stripped for a major overhaul........ Ok I'm getting carried away

Regards

Robert

Do they really do that many Barry ? I never new in fact I don't think I've ever seen a 1/32 aircraft kit by them:)

I'll get the mossy I built the 1/48 and that was good , I would like to see a hurricane tbh but I doubt they would ever make one sadly

Cheers Barry I've put those reviews in my bookmarks you never know when they will come in handy cheers :)

The Luftwaffe aircraft sell well, that's why there's so many 109s and 190s, but the competition is fierce. I'd love to see a really good Me 410. Whilst on the subject of twins a 1/32 P-38 would be nice or if British, a 1/32 Whirlwind, interest has been raised by the recent 1/48 offering from Trumpeter. I doubt we'll see any of those.

I think a really good 1/32 Hurricane, metal wing which gives options for fighter bomber variants etc, would be a seller. I'd buy one! The old Revell kit is, well, awful and the PCM kit, whilst making a nice Hurricane, lacks a lot of detail and might not be for the faint hearted.

Cheers

I think that a Hurricane would be a great move. Once the basic tooling is done, its not to far to envisage an early and a late version. Then there are some of the more interesting variants...Tank buster...Night fighter...

There is a 1/32 Jug. cant remember the brand. I think Dave is building one in the large scale SIG...

On a wide path, a 1/32 scale paraffin burner?...Imaging a Tamiya 1/32 EE lightning....... Slap! wake up!

A 109 or a 190 from them would also be a hit if you ask me. Even thought the new tooled 190 from Revell is getting great reviews on the WWW.

A 1/32 Swordfish or a Walrus would get my credit card running for the shadows in fear....

One thing more. It will be an Aircraft that has a good history, many variants and appeal to the Eastern Market.

What ever it turns out to be it will be expensive and worth every penny and lots of people will buy them. Just as there will be lots of people ready to pull them down and find fault before they even get the lid off the box.

If anyone knows Mike Jolly on Face book, he runs the Model kits for Less, well he's advertising the HKM Mosquito....

HK Models: 1/32: HK01E15: Mosquito B Mk IV, PR Mk I/IV: £169 RRP

MJR Price: £139.99 inc UK Hermes Postage: PRE-ORDER: Due May 2015

He always has a discount all the kits he sells, well worth a look.

What about a Meteor in 1/32?

PS Ian, the P47 Jug I'm struggling with is the 1/24 from VFS. The moulds went to Kinetic as I understand it, but I strongly suspect the one I'm working on was an early release so you shouldn't necessarily be put off by the problems I'm having.

What about a Harrier many different types to base a kit.... or a Buccaneer.... or a Jaguar GR1/GR3...

I think the ME109 or FW190 will be high on the list.

Well that's my pennies worth

A Tamy 1/32 brick hmm I'd buy that.. Also a good idea as there are both navy and Air Force versions...

A 1/32 jag now that would be sexy... If they do a Harriet it had better be better than their ancient sea harrier.

They could surprise us all and do a mk I - II spit... personally I would be very happy if they did a Sea Fire 46/47. A beautiful bird.

I reckon a 1/32 Mitsubishi KI 46 'Dinah' would be a lovely looking model , and probably sell well both here and in the east ?Like steve I think the other one that could be a contender is the P 38 Lightning . cheers tony

I have an impression that Japanese subjects are under represented at 1/32 sale. I'm not sure if this is really the case or not but something like the Ki 46 would be an interesting addition.

I'm not sure how Japanese WW2 subjects would go in Asia generally, I'm thinking particularly of the Chinese market. There seems to be some unresolved issues which have been manifesting themselves in various ways recently.

Cheers

And it's resin. Costs a fortune and 90% of the detail is hidden once the fuselage is glued up....
