After buying some boxes to store my bits and pieces on various shelves. I came across some wheel attachments to mount a model car or van to a base plate on a display case. which I had forgotten I had purchased.

Every time I try and attach them to a wheel using double sided tape, or glue they wont remain in place. I asked a friend to print me some more but make the edges higher but that was another mistake. I had some blocks printed which do a better job. I did in the past drill a number of holes (8 in total in the plinth of the case but i did not like the finish.

So what has been your worst purchase to date.

Worst buy? Hmm, my mate said it was his wife - you might think so (said I) but I couldn't possibly comment!

Hmm, worst purchase? I bought a roll of very thin, veneer type material, which I thought would be great at edging diorama boards, (I usually use balsa strips), buts its so thin and fragile that it is almost impossible to use! it just cracks and crumbles as soon as you touch it, I think its just cheap and nasty stuff, so my fault....So that sits in the corner of doom.....

A while ago we had a GB for non styrene models. My entry was without doubt the biggest load of %$£"£$"+!

Although I did complete it I won't be buying a TP Model kit again :)

If you think that lot are bad, try a Falcon brass etched wagon kit (actually, just don’t!). I made the mistake of buying a couple from a bring and buy at a model railway show years ago. Tried to build one of them, an LSWR horse box. No other kit was available, so I was pleased I’d found one. This happiness didn’t last long 😂.
The design was an etched brass box that folded up from flat, and then you added cast whitemetal framing and under frame details to build up the rest. Well, the etched box was a joke. Four sides came out from a base like a cross, that were then supposed to be folded up to make the basic box shape. Try folding something like that and making the corners work…..it cannot be done. Either the sides should overlap the ends, or the ends should overlap the sides. These sides just met at the edges. I solved that fault by cutting the sides off and scratching a new base to which they were attached so they butted up properly. After that, none of the cast details fitted, so replacements were, in turn, scratched. The under frame was pure fantasy, so I scratchbuilt that as well. Lastly the pre rolled roof was, of course, the wrong radius, so I made a replacement for that as well. After that work all I had used from the kit was the four sides, and even then not as they were designed to be used. The second kit then went in the loft to be sold on eBay twenty years later during covid.
