Cheers Paul, that’s the effect I’m after…..hoping the body goes together without too many gaps now. I’ve still got to paint and weather the outside…..Tim,
Liking this a lot some very nice tonal variation.

Wasn’t a sand-coloured Blanco issued for the web gear in the Middle East?Personal kit in the desert was essentially the same as for NW Europe mate - '37 Pattern web equipment but bleached much paler due to scrubbing and sun drying
Don’t know, but khaki drill highlighted with Iraqi sand would have been close enough for me….Wasn’t a sand-coloured Blanco issued for the web gear in the Middle East?
There were several colours of Blanco that varied from regiment to regiment Jacko - some were a very pale sandy colour, through a darker earthy shade to various green shades!Wasn’t a sand-coloured Blanco issued for the web gear in the Middle East?
Sounds like the idea was to make the kit all the same colour, rather than all the right colour……or did the quaterbloke have a choice when he ordered it?There werd several colours of Blanco that varied from regiment to regiment Jacko - some were a very pale sandy colour, through a darker earhy shade to various green shades!

Cheers John.Nice Tim. You must love this larger scale :smiling2:
Cheers Paul. Very kind of you….This is lovely, Tim. The wear and tear is just perfect - understated to a tee and completely convincing. You're using very different painting techniques at this scale, I guess?
Blanco was not an issue item generally but a private purchase from the NAAFI, only occasionally on deployment would the QM take limited stock (anticipating a bigwig parade perhaps), Lots of desert images show webbing as very light coloured due to scrubbing with soap or Vim and then sun-drying! There were various colours which included post-war maroon (Para Regt), Black (Armoured Regts), White (Provost and ceremonial) and even a lovely light blue for the Crabs (sorry, RAF!). The most common shades were No. 7 (Buff), No. 3 (Khaki Green or No, 9 (a pale Green). Incidentally, the brass fitting on '37 Patt Eqpt. was not originally meant to be polished but, in accordance with the prevalent military diktats 'If it moves - salute it - if it doesn't paint it or polish it!'Sounds like the idea was to make the kit all the same colour, rather than all the right colour……or did the quaterbloke have a choice when he ordered it?
Cheers Steve. I suppose there is a list of blanco numbers and colours somewhere……better keep it quiet though, or Mig will bring out a paint range for it….Blanco was not an issue item generally but a private purchase from the NAAFI, only occasionally on deployment would the QM take limited stock (anticipating a bigwig parade perhaps), Lots of desert images show webbing as very light coloured due to scrubbing with soap or Vim and then sun-drying! That'd make an interesting Dio TimSomething that supports Katy’s painted windscreens……not limited to the film it seems, but it’s the only other one I’ve seen….
Interesting that they are all different sizes, and the second and third ones are not even square (I know they are different vehicles)…..front vehicle cab and body seem to be slightly different colours as well….
Too late:I suppose there is a list of blanco numbers and colours somewhere……better keep it quiet though, or Mig will bring out a paint range for it….
I think that is actually fantastically useful, I'm going to save that, thanks Jakko always reliable!

Cheers Andrew, very kind of you.Coming on very nicely indeed Tim.
Really starting to look the part.
