Too Hot!!

Thanks Jack. I'm away on holiday for a few days (looking forward to the thunderstorms in a tent!) but will see if I can find something similar when I get back.

My RLS is a bit more pronounced, more of a physical twitching that can keep me awake for hours. Apparently I do it in my sleep too, Zoë will often tell me I've been running a marathon or disco dancing through the night :smiling5:
Not much better than a storm while in a tent!!
Oh wow, sounds like I am getting off lightly for now, if that is what I have.

Well, it has hit 35C here, it is sticky and uncomfortable - but there is a forecast of thunderstorms coming in a few hours - I just hope they don't fizzle out before they reach here............
Benchtime? forget it! - I could get up around 5am, when it's cooler, but that's the best time to sleep!

now 12/08/2020 it's raining...and the temperatures are still in the 30 C..... hopefully the sun will not come out otherwise HUMIDITY level 95%...... i just hate summer....give me -10C..... i'll be happy....sooooo NO bench today.....

32 degrees here in south Birmingham, according to my not entirely reliable cheapo thermometer.

Whatever it is, it's far too hot to be making a model, though I have to confess that I prefer the heat to the cold; maybe something to do with spending my early years in Africa :)

As I typed the above I think I heard thunder. Either that or something shed a load of something on the road across the river! A bit of a thunderstorm would be a relief, you can have too much of a good thing.

The warm weather seems to have ignited an interest in glasses of ice cold cider, so not all bad either.

It clouded over today, but no rain or thunder and temperature still in the 30s and humid as hell. I tried painting, but as the morning wore on the paint literally stopped working - apart from drying too quickly it curdled on the surface of the resin and went lumpy as it caught the dry bits. Really frustrating.

Still 31 degrees here today, six days in a row of 31+ now. They’re also forecasting this for tomorrow, but cooler (mid- to low-20s) after that, which will be a big relief for a lot of people here, I suppose :)

It was 33 when I left work earlier... now at home chilling the sprouts! :tears-of-joy:

Evening fellow sweaters.
Sorted out some helmets that would fit Hornet heads with out any work .
Glued one torso on to legs and gave up.
Even with with a through breeze in the cave it was unbearable.
Hope fully we have rain forecast for Friday .
.

Just face timed our lad in Shropshire, he was showing me the storm thats playing at the moment... impressive!

We had sudden high winds earlier and the sky went black with sounds of thunder. Other than the cooling of the wind the rain never come to anything. I may wash the car tommorrow, that usually triggers the rain.

Heavy rain here in Rugby. We had a couple of peals of thunder earlier but then the rain started. Thankfully it's a bit cooler.

Same here Peter, great clap of thunder followed by rain. Some was really heavy, and the feeling of clean air is great.

Set up two sets of three sticks in the ground, about 22 yards apart, that usually does the trick :)

Seems to have missed S. Gloucestershire out! A few rumbles of thunder last night - a few rain bursts - but now it's cloudy - 25C and very high humidity - these elusive thunderstorms are promised again late afternoon.............

Interesting thoughts. I haven't been near the bench while this hot weather has persisted. A few days ago I thought I would power wash the block paved drive and resand it. I thought the hot dry weather would be ideal for the job. It's a large area as we are a corner plot, 5 or 6 cars would fit. Got the job finished yesterday afternoon and it looked brilliant. Yesterday evening we had two hours of thunder, lightning and very heavy rain. Most of the sand is now washed out!!!
The best laid plans of mice and men.
Stay safe everyone - it should cool down soon.

Hot weather, shmot weather. Try this.

My den is up in the loft of our bungalow, and this last week or two I've been hearing a buzzing on t'other side of the partition, which has been getting progressively louder.

As it's so hot and sticky today, I decided to sort out Mr. Wasp! I wasn't going to have some chancer coming here and slinging a smoke bomb in the loft - "Thanks, that will be £100, please!"
This morning I bought two aerosols and went in to the den and listened to where the buzzing was coming from. Armed with a good sized screw driver, I made a hole through the partition wall, well away from the nest.....Wrong! Straight through the bl**dy thing. Needless to say the very annoyed wasps came at me when I withdrew the screwdriver. A good, quick squirt and I was gone! Luckily, I was only stung once, on my finger.

When things settled down in the den, I ventured back in and emptied a full can through the hole.

Now as I type this, I'm watching hordes of half dead wasps dropping down from the light fittings then landing on the floor, or bashing at the windows trying to get out.

Must be one hell of a nest!

All good fun.....

You should have done that at night when they were asleep Ron LOL.....
Just had a sower and a couple of peaks of thunder. Now almost bearable.....

We're having a few days camping in North Yorkshire. We visited Eden Camp yesterday and it was sweltering, I even got a touch of sun burn.

Skip to today and things couldn't have been more different. Our drive up to Whitby was totally fog bound, and once we got there we couldn't see more than a few hundred yards and the air was filled with that fine drizzle that soaks you through.

Blissfully cool though! I was in shorts & t shirt while everyone else seemed to be dressed for Antarctica :smiling5:
