Thanks Wibble, still playing with the base, think I've done enough to the Valentine for now with the exception of the track, applied some rust and for some unknown reason stopped. Left a section completely untreated !

Been playing with water lilies and bulrushes. The later were in a pkt from AMIG ammo , but both made by Model Scene. Instructions nil, just a slim packet of wires , some paper laser cut leaves, and a rather strange looking section of cardboard that had cut outs in it. Turns out these were to make the bulrush head. There was no way the wire would go through the cardboard, even tried to drill it, push a pin through, nothing worked. You were then supposed to ca a flat wisp that you seen on top of a bulrush. I used a thin very stringy ca to produce a head.



Not impressed by the wisp on bit, being flat its really useless. So went with the ca.


You can see the difference in this photo, that wisp should have been round. Any way a touch of light brown to the head will give a better impression.

Now the lilies, another product from Model Scene , consists of a similar pkt to the bulrush. Contents were two sheets of laser cut leaves , a small sheet of stamped out flower petals in 4 sizes. So you glued the 2nd largest to the first and then added the 3 and 4 size.



The actual leafs were good, and in differing sizes, these have had a thin coat of green, followed buy a small amount of yellow to the outer edge of the leafe and some brown for rot. Once dried these were given a coat of gloss varnish on both sides. Surprisingly the manufactures didn't mention gloss varnish, as all lilies have a gloss surface.



That's it for now, the base has had yet another sealing coat of pva and drying quite happily .

I have some of those bullrushes as well, spent about two days trying to work out the building of them :sad:. Had decided that if they were going to get built I would dip the end in some pva and then roll that in some fine sand to get the 'head' of the plant.
