I still can't face painting my Tamiya figure, so in the meantime it's on to another bust. A Verlinden classic and a perfect summing up of the British soldier in the 2WW - the v-sign and rotten dentistry.

The parts:

Another beautifully cast figure. The hilt for the bayonet is missing, so I'll either scratch one or leave the whole thing off.

To work.....

Quite an easy clean up and assembly. I've removed the thread-like eyebrows and flattened some of the wrinkles around the eyes.

that's one of Verlinden's better sculpts- do we know who the sculptor was?
Can't wait to see you work your magic with it, Peter

I really really enjoyed doing this one

Look forward to seeing your version

Hi peter
I knew I'd seen this done before but couldn't remember who by. I look forward to seeing your take on this Tommy.

Neil - Don't know who the sculptor is, but I agree that it is one of Verlinden's better ones.

Simon - It is a great bust, though I'm finding it challenging.

Jim - Couldn't be more Tommy-like could he?

Cheers Si.

British teeth, our secret weapon during WW2 - frighten the enemy to death.

Cheers Pete.

I got this for £18.85 from Historex, who are selling off their remaining stocks at discount prices. Nice to see someone who isn't exploiting their 'rarity'.

Andy - Many thanks.

Steve - I did a bit more to the face today, just tweaks and tidying up. The helmet altered some of the tones under the brim, so they also needed adjusting. I think I'll leave it now.

Looking good Peter.... I often wonder why there is a real shortage of quality British figures out there..
