My next bust will be of a French Foreign Legionnaire at the Battle of Cameron, Mexico, 30th April 1863. The battle occurred during the second French intervention in Mexico, and saw 65 legionnaires holed up in a hacienda and surrounded by 3000 Mexicans. The French fought until they ran out of ammunition and then the survivors made a last desperate bayonet charge. 19 were captured alive after inflicting 490 casualties. It's the Legion's defining moment and is still celebrated today in a lavish memorial parade.

The three-part sculpt:

Always nice to have a separate head.

The box art hasn't done full justice to the uniform, as the epaulettes should be a much brighter green:

Fingers crossed.

Zee French Forin Leegon. I fine choice indeed. It reminds me of the famous episode of Laurel and Hardy. Looking forward to this one immensely.

Should be a good ‘un........Beau Chumps indeed Steve.....
No sign of Genie Weinie though....

Was that the one with Beau Ned as the lead and Beau Nidle as the co-star Pierre?

Well after that big build up - BINNED again!! Sorry folks.

The face was absolutely awful, a real mess. The sculptor had scored loads of wrinkles around the eyes, but left it all a bit unresolved. I stripped it down and and took the scalpel to it three times, but I just couldn't get a good finish.

At least you had a bit of fun!

Hope you did too Peter!
Shame about that. You must have the most interesting wastebin in Kent.
