I’ve been hesitant to post this since I don’t have much time to build this summer but I wanted to try to stay on pace with commander Race…lol..

hopefully I can find some time in the next few weeks to provide some updates.

Joe,
that's looking good! Have any difficulty with the frame aerial? You can see the beginning of the transition of the Christie tank to the T-34................. The BT-5 saw action at Khalkhin Gol in 1939, a war that took place between the Soviet Union & Japan - a little known conflict, that nevertheless had over 40,000 casualties & involved over 500 tanks & over 1000 planes, and had a direct bearing on WWII

Hi Joe
Looks to have built up well. A lot of figures to paint. Are they from one manufacturer or are they a mixture? Sometimes mixing makes can result in some odd sizing.
Jim

Very nice Joe, i hear theres a world wide shortage of 4BO and nothing to do with the suez canal, comrade Race seems to be hoarding it all!

Dave,

yes some minor fitting issues with the aerial frame but not too bad overall..just had to work it from one end and work my way around until the glue set up. thanks for the history of the Khalkhin Gol conflict.. always good to go back and look for pics on the internet.

Thanks Jim,

most figures are from the Tamiya kit and a few from different Dragon kits and ESCI...with a few Hornet head modifications to the German infantry crew that will become part of the dio. I try to stay away from mixing anything from Verlinden with any of the other brands... Verlinden seems to be a little on the "giant" size compared to other brands.

Hi Joe great build is it straight out of the box or have you added a few bit and bobs. Dave

David apologies for the delay in responding..most was OOB but I did have a Eduard PE kit that added some extra little detail… onto the GAZ AAA next

Nice carpentry there, Joe ! Is that balsa, or basswood ? Looking to add woodwork to my own project but seems that basswood is a bit better to work with possibly ? What are your thoughts ?

Thread owner
Thanks Ron, it is basswood That I used and I do agree that it is better to work with IMO. I cut each section to size and then marked up the plank sizes and scribed them in. I had much more success this time than on the last GAZ truck bed that I built. overall this one turned out better

Awesome, John , I'm loving that cargo cover on the truck !

Wow, just spotted this........check with JR, he can probably spare you a "bucket" of 4BO and still have a truckload left over. If my memory serves, he was using it to paint the garden shed with last year! :tongue-out3:
Looking forward to your next update. Rick H.
