Not sure, will tell you if he returns tomorrow, (s)he's hanging there now

Beautiful, although For your sake I hope it doesn’t decide to set up home, we had all sorts of problems when they set up home in the village church, lots of problems with maintenance because you cannot disturb the roost.

But hey Gary,

That is one great reference for all the wing thingy builders here and a great color profile for the camo too. Cool Picture!!!

Look at it this way, you are on your way to a guano home business...................
Is a nice looking bat, well, as bats go.

Brown long eared bat?

Surely it can't be a grey, if you're in Scotland

It's an old shed out the back, I'd rather we had it than didn't.
We have lots of the little pipistrelle, not seen these Brown long-eared ones before.

Probably just out of hibernation.............

if you don’t need the shed then it would be brilliant to have them stay,

Which translated into normal speech means; You cannot do anything to the building if it disturbs it. We had t get a bat survey done to have our extension built. £200 for a 10 minute check!

You're lucky... when we renovated our house we had to re-roof and the council insisted on a bat survey which was inconclusive at £200 ...so I had to pay out another £700 for a chap to spend the night in the garden so he could then write a report saying he saw no bats!!!
Still, its a beautiful thing!

The prince of darkness old bitey himself Dracula. Better get that stake and hammer ready:dizzy:

That is so cool! If nothing else, the lock down is being good to animals.

We used to have a bunch of little bats in the area when we first moved in. Was cool watching them feed in the summer evenings. Hate mosquitoes much more than bats. Mosquito abatement measures dried up their chow I guess as we don't see them anymore. Now we have hawks downtown & eagles in the the park by the river, though the little birds gang up and drive off the hawks. The eagles hunt the river so no prob. PaulE

Out here in Western Montana we don't have a bunch of laws to tell folks to leave the bats alone. Some people even put up "bat houses" to attract the furry little night fliers because, as Paul said, they keep the mosquito population under control. By day, it's the swallows so we are covered around the clock. I consider myself fortunate to be able to enjoy all the wonders of living in isolation. Rick H.
