What a plonker !

Horatio Peter Nelson...hope the arm gets into its proper position with the thumb healed. How many times have you asked to go to the bathroom?
Now we know why it takes two hands to clap. Having injured my arms in many occasions with sliding burns on astro turf, stretching can be a pain with the useless arm.
Good to know you're healing and starting to paint.

Cheers,
Richard

Glad it's healing Peter. The trouble is that after being immobilised in plaster for a while, you'll need physiotherapy to get it moving properly again.
Pete

Glad to read that the family are so supportive ! Goods news thought on feeling somewhat better.

Great to hear you are improving Peter, and no infection is a bonus too.

Good to hear you're on the mend Peter, my mate is going through the same with his injured hand, surprising how difficult it is with only one hand.

Hi guys

thanks for the support - it will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I am getting really bored! Not a lot of pain, the real 'pain' is having my whole hand in a cast which means I cannot grip anything, coupled with having to keep the hand elevated. Even painting flats is limited to short sessions. Still; it could have been a lot worse!

On Thursday Tina and I are flying to Southampton for me to have my first cataract operation, just the thought of which petrifies me!

Hi Peter
I am sure the eye operation will be fine. It is a straightforward procedure which I'm sure will make a big difference.
Having said that I would be frightened as well :smiling:

Good Luck Peter - eye'm sure it will work out perfickly for you!

I can understand you being petrified of the trip. I once spent twelve hours in Southampton airport waiting for a plane to take off. The thought of having to do that again would terrify me…...
The op will be absolutely fine though. It’s a very routine procedure and you’ll be amazed at the difference.

Hi Guys

a quick update. Had the stitches removed this morning, there were 12 of them, the pin is still in place and the hand re-plastered. the thumb looks horrible (no surprise) but is healing well. the plan is for the pin to be removed in w weeks time, and hopefully I will be fitted with a flexible drassing rather than plaster. Slow, but positive progress.

on Friday I had my first of my cataracts removed and replaced with a lense. I looked a right sight on Friday - dressing over my right eye and my right hand in plaster! Fortunately I was well sedated and cannot remember anything about the proceedure, on the basis of having my left eye done at the end of March I am glad I cannot remember it - I admit I am very sqeemish.

so far so good, sight is a little unbalanced since I have one internal lense and one on my spectacles (removed the right lense). The strange thing is that it will take up to 4 weeks for the new lense to settle in the eye and my sight is slightly different each day, but my close vision is getting better so I may be able to paint some flats.

Peter

Glad to hear it's all going the right direction mate :thumb2:

Hi Peter
You've certainly been through it but hopefully on the mend now. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Chris

It sounds daft but I'm not sure. i asked for sedation and they said that they would sedate me but not put me out because the surgeon ask me to look at different lights, they also said I would not remember all of the procedure. I cannot remember anything. I guess I may have been under as much sedation as they could give me, buth whether or not I was asleep, I do not know.
