What flew over your house (yesterday)

Thread owner
A jet Provost, Saturday afternoon. Such a grey dull day I really wasn’t expecting anything. Then you hear an unfamiliar engine coming your way.

In Farnham Surrey today - think they are doing circuit and bumps, been around about 6 times today !

I Googled and I seems to fit as most naval choppers that fly over come from Yeovilton
No chin radar would defo be Yeovilton. They are the Junglie variant.
With a chin radar would signify an ASW Merlin so from Culdrose in Cornwall.
As an aside, did you know the EH101 thing is a Media faux Pax? It was initially called the EHI -01 for European Helicopter Industries - 01 signifying the first collaboration. However, at the press day, the media in their absolute best, misquoted - and it remained the EH101 thereafter!!
Useless fact of the day!!!

@peterairfix Just noticed where you live. I would guess most of the Merlins would be from VL. You're probably close the the joining circuit. You also have a satellite airfield close to you at Merryfield where they practice engine off's and autorotations etc!!!! (Saves cluttering the runway at VL with Merlin bits when it goes wrong!!

Too late for pictures, but 6 Chinooks flew over here together (Nr. Chester) heading east about 4 hours ago.

Anyone else see them?

Mick, it's not a pond it's a "Heron Resort Club"......ask JR, he's always givin' 'em free food and makes 'em feel right at home!! ;)

Not something that flew over but wish it did. The guys over at Langkawi island or even in Butterworth are getting quite an airshow pre flight work outs.
Basically the aerobatic teams from Korea, Indonesia and Russia have arrived. Black Eagles and Russian Knights...

Our Airforce will have their F-18 solo displays. I don't know if the Smokie Bandits team is still in operation since we have stood down our Mig 29s.
I have videos but don't know how to link them from whatsapp.

Cheers,

Great pics indeed.
I listened to something fly close to my place today but couldn't see anything.

Forgot to mention the second and third photos are of the PLA Chinese Aerobatic team with a female pilot amongst them flying their latest aircraft. Many now know what the underside markings look like to build the kit.

Cheers,

Only had my phone on me so not brilliant pictures, I’m guessing it’s a C130? and the day before we had 2 Typhoons dog fighting, but too high up to take pictures.

That’ll be the Herc replacement! Atlas???? Waits to be corrected!

High tail, multi bladed swept props! A400 Atlas.
Good spot too as 75% were reported u/s or in heavy maintenance.

Driving through Duxford on my way to Shepreth yesterday..(Tues), and was lucky enough to spot the two seater Spitfire flying around at a relatively low level.. It was absolutely beautiful to see, unfortunately I couldn't grab a pic as mobile phones and driving lead to a rather large points level being added to your license..

C17,we were treated to several hrs of this beast flying over the town as they practiced landing at Wittering . Last night will be Thursday as they finish night flying using night vision goggles (NVGs) and making approaches to land without the aid of any runway lights !

All good fun and great to see. Far better than the sound of the air training core flying in their wasps ! Well that's what they sound like .

Wandering round a garden centre today I looked up to see a Fairey Swordfish above. Later I watched a Poseidon MRA1 fly low and fast, 500ft, 250kts along the Liverpool waterfront.
