What flew over your house (yesterday)

\ said:
Don't want to rub it in Alan but in the summer we regularly have the BBMF fly over my flat. They inspired me to start making again.
I see them every summer as well but this year I've not seen the Lancaster I have seen a hurry mk1a and a spit but not together it seems wierd not seeing them this year

Saw this on the BBMF Facebook page:

RAF Waddington - Lancasters arrival - 9am

(Please note: this location might not see the formation fly-by)

- Overhead the eastern edge of Lincoln at approx. 13:30

- Overhead RAF Coningsby at 13:45

- Overhead RAF Marham at 14:00

After breaking formation, XH558 will continue to Clacton, while the Lancaster pair will depart to another location.

So what may fly over your house tomorrow is a formation you may never see again. Cameras out please for those of us on the other side of the planet. :)

What flew over our flats today.

P40 & T6(Zero)

Bronco

SK60

Morane 406

Hunter T7

AAC Lynx

BBMF + Canadian Lancaster

Strikemaster

Tutor [8]

Tucano

Canberra

SHF (3 Ship)

Draken

Viggen

Red Arrows

And when I mean over it was fortunately right over seems their altimeters were accurate. Only just it appeared.

The two Lancasters were splendid.

Pauline was a little shocked while ironing yesterday to hear this noise and then the Red Arrows passed in front of our lounge window.

Crowds what an afternoon. Most places close down and the schools close at 12:00pm. Totally blue sky absolutely perfect.

Photos sorry difficult against the bright blue sky. Made more difficult as the aircraft fly a good distance apart. Good thinking !

Very nice Laurie. From me, just this very moment (not yesterday) the BBMF Dakota. Right over the roof heading east from Stafford.

Well following on from my last post, at 1554 today, the BBMF Dakota flew right over my greenhouse, heading West this time. Nice and low - lovely sound.

Not yesterday, 30 minutes ago in the pitch dark!

Sober as a Judge, I have just got back from walking the dog, during which I looked up at the stars. There was the usual commercial stuff going over at their cruising height - 40,000ft give or take - all nav. lights flashing. Easy to hear too.

Then I spotted something a lot, lot higher going west to east. One white light, at first I thought it was a satellite, but this light was flashing a steady 'beat', so it had to be an aircraft of some sort. It was travelling at an incredible speed and soon went out of sight. Being so high there was no sound....

What it was, I will never know. Anyone care to have a stab as to what it might have been? Serious suggestions on a postcard to......

Puzzling. If it had no flashing light I think it might have been a meteor, or the start of WW III, although after 51 minutes I think I might have noticed something by now. (Or perhaps not yet. I'll look out of the window tomorrow morning to see if there are any mushroom clouds.) Having a flashing light seems to indicate that it was happy to advertise its presence, but what peaceful object could go so quickly?

Or perhaps it was much lower (giving the appearance of high speed if assumed to be at altitude) but even a ballistic object would make some sound observable at ground level. If there was a fence between you and it, that might account for the flashing light appearance, but you claiming to be sober you would probably have noticed that. I'm stumped.

You could dial 999 and say that the Martians have landed. That would hit the headlines and attract a lot of ideas.
