Woolworths ,hot roasted salted peanuts in a nice grease proof sweetie bag shoveled in by the uniform wearing girl behind the counter ,not your thing how about a bag of broken biscuits. If I was in possession of half a crown and walked there and back I could buy a airfix kit and then had to choose one of the above. Airfix kits a tab on the inside of each fuselage formed your cockpit interior on to wich you stuck the pilot ,well I think that's what it was looking back now more like a plastic surgeon who had sat in front of the fire for too long ,oh and all parts removed from sprues by twisting or wobbling backwards and forwards.

Picture cards in packs of cigarettes and tea etc. I remember I had a couple of shoeboxes full of them and not a complete set amongst 'em!

PS Looking at this ever growing list, I'm starting to wonder if we had more then than we have today!

Ah yes - collecting cards from chewing gum - the gum was rubbish, it was the cards you were after - The Man Fom Uncle - American Civil War are the two I remember.............

I remember the gum being so hard I cut my mouth on it……at that time I only wanted the football cards though. I only completed a set once. I was so excited I took the last two cards into school to show my mates. I didn’t put them away quickly enough at the start of lessons and the teacher snatched them off me, tore them in half, and threw them in the bin. Got the last laugh though, I took the bits home and glued them together……

Anyone remember scratch and sniff cards……another chewing gum sales gimmick. You got a card with three (I think) cards you could scratch them and smell the scent indicated in the card. A very weird idea.

Modern Vs have had all the good stuff removed, unfortunately . Do you remember Imps Richard, they used to absolutely blow your head off, and they were about the size of a grain of rice….

Omg yes Tim.I used to whack a load in my mouth and wondered why my blood pressure was up!!.Love liquorice but not good for Hypertension.Can still get Nippits from Mr Symms sweetshops but not as good as Imps!!.

Old Jamaica were posh chocolates in my youth.Used to love the sunset with Galleon on.They are awful now in a big plastic wrapper.Woolworths i loved.Big treat at Christmas getting huge bag of pick n mix.Plus all the Airfix kits.My first models aged 8 or 9 from good old woolies.Much missed Neil.

Talking of cigarette cards or the cards from Tetley tea, who remembers playing "fag cards"? Standing them against a wall and taking turns to attempt to flick another card to knock them down. Player who got the last card picked up all the cards that had been flicked.
