For some of you the name will mean nothing. But to the 'older' generation (myself included) this name should be well known.

I grew up watching 'It ain't half hot mum' and used to love his character.

RIP big man

He was I believe a corporal in the Army, but his portrail of a British Army Sergeant Major in a the above show was superb he will be missed. RIP

I remember and enjoyed "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" - politically very far from correct but of its time.
His wife died last September after 62 years of marriage.
RIP Windsor.
Jim

He must have died of a broken heart Jim. I see it all the time when one partner dies shortly after the other when they have been married for that length of time. Truly sad

There you go
Pure class, after his performance all seargent majors were thought to be welsh....what higher accolade could he have...

He made a great portrayal of the sergeant-major indeed, here the network changed the name to’’Oh moeder, wat is het heet.’’ but the episodes still stayed in English.

RIP sergeant-major

A great shame. I used to love It aint halv hot.

Many years ago, a friend in my dads BT office knew Windsor. He got him to pay the office a visit on the occasion of one the bosses birthday. He was superb, everyone got the verbal assult, you could hear him many floors up! The office was in uproar! He changed back into normal in a flash, my dad met him and what a lovely bloke he was, a joy to meet. Good bye and many thanks Windsor
