Hi Folks

This is work so far on a figure I'm building, possibly to go with my 1/16 Tiger.

This is a resin figure 120mm and is of superb quality.

There's still work to do on this:-

Add the rifle (slung over right shoulder)

Add the pick axe (carried in left hand)

Add entrenching tool and water bottle

and quite a bit more painting...

Hope you like the progress so far, it's been a pleasure to do!

Couldn't see an 'under construction Figure category' so I stuck it in this section!!!

I'll post the completed figure once he's finished. Unfortunately I dropped my airbrush in the sink and stoved-in the spray nozzle (doh!), so until I replace it both this and the Tiger are on a bit of a hold.

Nice one Paul, it's quite eerie how real he looks as he walks towards you with that confident swagger of ol' Tommy Atkins.

Just a thought, how about a pipe or a fag on the go? Finish it off a treat....

The cigarette is a nice idea but I do think it's been done too many times before. Also, in the painting of this figure I've tried to capture the expression and attitude the sculptor has so brilliantly put into the figure, I think a cigarette may simply serve as a distraction.

The figure is painted in acrylics. I've been working on a style and technique with these paints for a little while now I'm glad you like the results

Seeing as we are not allowed to swear no the forum I will control my self as just say that is very nice indeed. Painted with acrylics too. Is he staying all clean and tidy? I do hope so.

The figure won't be any dirtier than he already is apart from the boots and gaiters. These will receive some scuffing and dry dirt.

I try with every piece to paint with a particular place and time in mind - in this case a hot and dusty June day. His uniform is lighter than usual due to the dust and bright light on it, any dirt would be dry and more likely to be just a light, dusty covering. In Normandy the amount of dust even broke aircraft - Typhoons were retro fitted with filters to cope with it! It seemed more appropriate to weather this chap accordingly. If you imagine this guy walking down the grass verge of a dirt road with armoured vehicles speeding past kicking up clouds of dust - that's where I picture him. He's a bit knackered but in good spirits having survived the landings and confident in the victories so far.

And I think your right, a fag would be gilding the lily.

Was gonna make a comment about his nice shiny parade ground boots, but you got that covered already.

Thanks everyone This build seems an age ago now, I've since added the rifle and other paraphernalia and it's pretty much done. The figure is a Pete Morton sculpture bought from Foxwood Figures. Andy - the fruity pose makes more sense when the pick axe is in hand! Paul
