Here we go with another first for me , a large scale bust. I got this cheap on the net , since finding out its a Young miniatures sculpt . Its very nicely done although I’m going to delete the monkey on his shoulder and the eighties style Ray bans on his head will have to be altered to be more suitable for the ww2 era. Ive got no instructions so the assembly of the .50 cal MG will require a bit of research , plus ive got the barrel to straighten out ( any tips welcome , I’m thinking very hot water? )
Figures still scare me to death but hey ho , off we go ! IMG_8533.webpIMG_8535.webpAnd heres a pic off the net of what it should look like IMG_8534.webp

Looks a very well detailed sculpt. Luckily it looks like the monkey is a totally separate moulding. The detail on the shirt shoulder is unaffected.

An interesting figure, you should get lots of fun out of this one Tony.

The Rayban sun glasses would be period correct, surprisingly.

Thanks joe , yes I did a bit of research and saw that they could be correct . I’m actually relieved as trying to alter the shape or removing them altogether would have been very difficult and in this scale it has to be spot on . I also read that sunglasses were frowned on in certain cases - the suns reflection off the lenses could give away the position of a covert unit . Anyways theyre staying and the monkey isnt .

Yes jim luckily the monkey is separate , just a square hole to fill and his tail to sand off , which I did yesterday and its come out ok IMG_8539.webpIMG_8542.webpIMG_8543.webp
So , anyone want a 1/10 scale monkey eating a sandwich ?

Had heard hot water to straighten that barrel Tony.
Certainly NOT heat, in my case an important reason!;)
Cheers john , yes I seem to remember people heating resin up with boiling water to make it a bit more pliable , definitely not a naked flame , I think its quite flammable stuff .
If this fails I’ll have to say its a top secret SAS weapon for shooting round corners 😆

Interesting sculpt..... I would have thought sand goggles would have been better than raybans..... But still going to look good..... Best of luck with the 50 cal

I've just been googling to see if I could find a pic that maybe this sculpt had been based on..... Didn't find one but there is one of Paddy Mayne in sunglasses, but not rayban aviator style, so it is plausible

Cheers paul , Yes I thought sand goggles would be more likely but I suppose a SAS soldier getting hold of a pair of Ray bans is more plausible than having a pet , sandwich eating monkey!
