Checking in and saying hello. Forced to change hobbies (again) Was, for quite some years, a dedicated woodturner. The onset of a progressive spinal condition put paid to that. So took up photography but the main enjoyment for me was landscape work. My condition worsened and I was forced to use a wheelchair to go more than a short distance, not the best idea for a hobby. I realised that something was telling me 'find a hobby that requires only limited mobility.' I got interested in model railways but little trains going round and round didn't really do it for me but building scenery and vehicles I really enjoyed so thats where we are now bitten by the bug. Looking forwards to doing some modest dioramas but realise there's lots to learn so please be gentle with me John

Hi John, welcome aboard from another Somerset modeller.....I’d be interested to see some of your work.

Hi John
Welcome to this very friendly and supportive forum. Modellers with a very wide range of experience and interests so always someone to answer queries and offer advice.
Jim

A warm welcome from me too, John.

All my working life was around timber.
Not turning the stuff, but hacking it to bits with a chain saw and then nailing the result together to form summat that resembled a roof!

I look forward to seeing your dioramas.
Ron

John,
It's a warm welcome from me as well. What are your interests if you build planes don't worry I will still talk to you ;)

Hi John,

Welcome to the looney bin and greetings from Germany too!!! I used to turn a little wood long ago, but mostly got splinters. Jump on in, the water is fine!!!

John,
welcome to the forum - is it as wet in Somerset, as Gloucestershire? I, too have decreasing mobility but making models ( of any sort ) is a great pursuit, and the forum a great place, for like minded people...................

Hi John welcome to the mad house. Great bunch here. Loads of info, banter and chat

Greetings from the U.S.A. It is wild and wooly but not very wet at the moment. Glad to have you aboard. Do you have a particular modeling interest or is it eclectic?
Rick H.

Hello John and welcome aboard, nice bunch here so you'll be just fine.
Bit of a wood man myself but more on the felling, logging and milling end of the spectrum
Age and health have slowed me just a bit but my boys keep the logs rolling;)

Looking forward to seeing your work

Jim:smiling4:

Welcome John! I did some woodturning and trains too, hope your back will be ok :thumb2:

Welcome to the old modellers forum

You have already qualified, just need to dive in as the boys have already said.

Everyone is really open to helping out, so just ask
