SWMBO decreed yesterday was a day away. So car packed and off we went, pooch in tow!
Then some loony outdoor insect creature has a nibble and my left knee is swollen!! Left ankle has too to a minor degree.
I suspect the dreaded Blandford fly!! I had a massive reaction 30 odd years ago when I had 6 or 7 nibble me on a survival course and every time I get a bite - bang - reaction time!!
Last time I go out this year!!! (Unless SWMBO say different!!)

After my first encounter all those years ago, I did a States visit. Someone recommended a spray called ‘Off’. Nice orange smell and it worked. So much so I bought a few tins and brought them home. Lasted ages, sadly ran out and not available over here!!
I’ll get some’Smidge’, see how I get on.
A small red dot yesterday is the size of an orange today, luckily only a wee bit of swelling.

SWMBO made take an anti-histamine pill earlier. Not quite as ‘nippy’ as it was about an hour or so ago.

YES Doug i had this happen to me when i was wearin shorts the little bugger bit my left leg right in the leg back in thr knee jiont an bit me 3 time an talk about painfull an my leg swelled up big an red an was painfull to walk so went to docs an she gave me some anti -biotits even then it took nr a week before my leg swellin went down an pain to go away so now i dont wear shorts just long trousers to procteck against them little buggers

I feel sorry for you walking buffets. I never get bitten. The wee beasties eat everyone around me but give me a wide berth. The doc said it's something in my genes, but I wear shorts in summer! :smiling: .

Morning Chris. A lot better, although the hound aggravated it yesterday when she jumped up at me. He claw scraped right across the point of entry. That made my eyes water!!
I can feel it but glad so say the tightness seems to have gone.

YES Colin that how my leg was after three bites an yes all swelled up a red an yes very hot an painfull to walk on it
