Seeing some going for £2000 to £ 3000 and being water colour just shows how high the demand for his work is Peter .
A great thing to own and treasure, agree with Tim about it going to someone who appreciates them .

Sorry Lee for butting in on your thread .

John - Good point made to Lee.

Lee - my apologies for taking your thread in a different direction. I'll shut up now.

That’s ok Guys I learned some history about Airfix and Peter thanks for Sharing your findings

Ooh memory lane! My first thought was of that flying fortress picture, I won it in a local news agents model making competition when I was about 12. And then the RAF emergency set!! Love that too.
It's all so evocative, thanks Lee for the thread :thumb2:

While digging through a krabbel kiste (spares box), I happened across a few items from my youth. So with apologies again to Lee,

Remember the Bristol Bloodhound artwork?

I used to have that one many years ago, had a Land Rover as the towing vehicle.

Do you mean this kit???

Or all that's left of it.....I gave the Rover a new set of rears too..........

Panther art was a bit naff though…..

And speaking of the Panther....How about these,

Some parts are missing and the cammo isn't correct (StuG is not even painted), but it was amazing what some pastels could do back in the day. These are probably around 50 years old and a helluva lotta fun way back then..............................

Prost
Allen (in flashback fever)

Here’s some of mine. I plan on building these. The Thunderbolt is in complete but I plan on getting parts for it and building it. I hope some day make a Diorama with the fuel set. There are so many of these are my favorites I just can’t pick one.

Always remember the T bird and the Spit in poly bags. Boxes must be a US thing….
The Hudson looks really old though….
Great stuff, can’t wait to see them built!

I just wish Airfix would do (all) the RAF ground support sets in 1/48 scale.
Off topic sorry.

It must be I’ve seen some in bags in the USA at one of my favorite hobby shops that’s now is close he always carried vintage old kits that’s where I got a lot of my stuff from. I thought about doing a vintage Airfix 1/76–1/72 Group Build but I don’t know if it would get off the ground or not a lot of people are just not interested in building these old kits like I am

Here’s a pic of the Airfix Corsair built with the box. This was a very fun building. I hand painted the White and Medium Blue model.

Haven't the boxes after all these years, but two of my favourites were the walrus kit and the moon landing kit - both were done back in the day.

I find this a very interesting thread so far, but I can't participate because I have never actually built an Airfix kit in my life......they always seemed a little too big and out of scale!! :tongue-out3::tongue-out2::tongue-out:;) I do like the box art though, a lot of it reminds me of my set of 1953 Topps "Wings" Trading cards........keep 'em coming guys.
