Did somebody mention biscuits!!?

AAh , I see - thats what the Zulus were after! The pencil straps look fine to me mate , its 1/72 after all ,it would be nigh on impossible to make 3" x 1/2" scale battens ,they would be paper thin .Keep on keeping us entertained mate its going to be a top piece of work , cheers tony

Cheers matey, I getting a bit twitchy about the figures. I'm watching some 1/72's on ebay. It's for one box each of soldiers and Zulus (50 in each box)....They don't finish 'til Friday and are already on £20!

Looking good mate , it must have taken an age to do all those biscuit boxes , I would have used balsa and etched it with a pencil to make the seperat planks but then I'm a cheat :D

Great work mate

On a side note , did you notice in the film that there was about 20 cows in a little coral but when they stampeded it was like 200:D

Thanks Alan, I did consider balsa, but the grain would have been far too 'heavy' for 1/72, hence Gern's tight grain stirrers.

Ah yes, the cows....I also remember one of the soldiers going to get some milk for a calf, but by the time he'd returned the ungrateful little sod had snuffed it.

I reckon the last thing on my mind at that time would be feeding a calf!!!

Your not wrong , facing thousands of Zulus and all you can think of is a calf  That must have been a bit of artistic licence :D

Good luck with the figures Ron I'm part way through doing some for my D-Day landing SIG but now where near 4,000

Thanks Ian, but at the present rate, 4000 1/72 Zulus would cost me £800, me thinks a drastic cut back in Impi spending is called for!...That's without the £30 worth of British involvement.

Could be one hell of a sick parade!

3999 Zulus in the Green Room? More like the Green Hanger!
Naah! This'll be an Outside Broadcast so they'll be in the green Caravan Park!

I've done some more work on the front escarpment/slope. I've tried to build it as I would imagine it would look during the assault by the Zulus, as they fought their way up the stoney bank, breaking bits off as they went on their merry way.

I've purposely made the grass band a lighter colour, as I would think the thin grass would be trampled down along the baricade line. Also, the thin layer of soil has slipped down causing the grass to droop at the edge.

Right or wrong, that's my interpretation, and I'm sticking to it, so there!

Anyway, here are the pictures....

This looks amazing Ron. But I've just had an awful thought. I might be wrong here, but didn't the 'Locals' set fire to the building near the end of the film ? So if this is right, how far are you going with the dio' Ron ?

Hi Ron,

Still turning out quality as usual I see. Excellent work mate.

Oh come on Col! You're surely not suggesting Ron burns this masterpiece?!

Thanks Colin, I know they set fire to the Hospital building, but I can't remember if they did the same to the stores. I don't think they did.

I'm hoping to model the last ditch defence, after the hospital was over run and the soldiers retreated behind the hastily erected biscuit box wall.......

Ron

You know Ron sometimes when I view your threads I get this horrible feeling of inadequacy

As Ian's (Papa) avatar says " I can no longer stand this level of awesome !"
