As part of Paul's 4 wheel drive GB I have built this ..
P1080123.jpg

I intend a dio of this Bedford QL towing the Bofors gun along a muddy track. This is the gun kit ...

I built it a few years ago as deployed.

It's a very simply kit intended for gaming and it snaps together without glue. I will glue it and also use this PE set.
P1080118.jpg

The cruciform base is only buildable in a deployed position so the first job was to cut off the side arms to position them in the folded towing position.
P1080115.jpg

P1080116.jpg

Detail was sanded off to allow for PE.
P1080117.jpg

P1080119.jpg

The gun shields were detailed with PE and styrene rivets.

This is where I'm at.

And the tow bar.

Thanks for you kind posts.
Quite a lot of progress despite having had "The Bug" for the last week. Just runny nose, rotten cough and generally feeling tired. I did kindly share it with the missus who wasn't best pleased!

As this is a clip together gaming model there are holes into which the crew figures attach. Filled them with stretched sprue.

Added PE pedals.
P1080130.webp

Cut off the shells and made up the PE cover.
P1080131.webp

All ready for paint. The barrel travel lock had to be cut so the barrel would fit into it. The top part of the lock and the magazine cover are still to be fitted.

Love all the improvements, great job.

That'll look lovely behind the truck, Jim. Great work.

The Bofors has been weathered the same as the Bedford. Both may need tweaking when on the base.

P1080143.webp

The base is started. Blue foam stuff. The wall is fixed in place using cocktail stick dowels and PVA.

The wall has been sealed with PVA and the base will be covered with Sculptamold.

I'm loving this Jim, both model and blue foam dio look great, looking forward to the next update, have fun (y)

Not a lot of progress but getting there.
The base was given a coat of black Stynylrez primer.

Then detail painting using Vallejo paints.

I have given it a brown oil wash which is drying. It will take a few days in a warm place as the oil wash tends to soak into the foam. The wash will tone down the colours.
