Well Sunday is a favourite day as I get to sail my boats down at the pond.

Today was a beautiful morning and, as usual, I was about an hour early so I had the place to myself for that time. I took my Model Slipway, HMS Enigma, an Envoy Class Tug and the Revel U-Boat. Unfortunately when I got there I realised I had forgotten to take the batteries for the U-Boat so a good job I had the Enigma!

I also picked up a new yacht that I had bought off one of the other members who has made himself and his wife two new ones so I had a go with that using his radio set. Lovely boat for me to get into sailing a bit and try to learn a bit about the fine art of making the most of the wind (when you finally find it!!).

Back for lunch which is always bacon and egg butties on a Sunday, a weekly treat. This afternoon I had a play with the new yacht and managed to get an old, 2 channel, 27 Meg aircraft radio sorted out and working with it. I converted the throttle lever from a sprung centre to operate the sail arm and it all works fine now. I might take it out again on Wednesday to give it a try. I also want to get the U-boat out again as I have changed the motor couplings from the stupid huge, badly out of balance, things that I got with the shafts to a very much tidier turned brass fitting with a peice of household three core flex sheaving as the flexible medium. They now turn very smoothly and I want to get it back on the water and see how it performs.

Then a bit of pottering with the steam coaster. I have done a lot of work in the wheelhouse and it is very nearly ready for the flying bridge to be put in place. I will take a few pictures first and do a bit more of the build thread first.

well back in the UK, having spent far too much time sat in airports and on discount airlines over the last week or so !-

spent alot of time looking at a large single span space in central berlin, thinking about what we can do with the space, spent time plotting the whole building and getting details of cable runs and similar..... also looking at space and access and stuff, met with my opposite number from LL germany too, interesting day or so- bit daunting been given a totally 'blank canvas'- - i think i prefer it if we are given a hint for a theme or a direction in which we can develop and explore... but fun and games, then whizzed across to france to look at a project that is now completed ( well almost) an animated retail display.... all done bar a few minor details- hurrah-

now looks like another ryan air trip in the offing to billund before xmas.......

the only plus is at least in france/ germany you can pick up some nice bits n bobs- got some nice booze in france, - who needs duty free- its just so much cheaper in the high street anyway...great for xmas prezzies - the only other plus iif you are away over a weekend - a bit of shopping!

rediculous bit about it all is the company are keen for us to use these discount flights, like £20 to denmark but then we issue them with airport parking bills for £100 plus!!!- madness !

I still always have to remember who I am reading posts from. I am still of the mindset that pissed means mad. I keep forgetting you all use it as another word for drunk or uneven. I just love how we are two groups of peoples seperated by a common language. I am glad you had a good time Char and Happy Belated B-Day. Last night I was at my pool league and drinking Yeungling Lager (local brew) with shots of Blackberry Brandy.... I was feeling now pain but I was not quit pissed... actually I was pissed but only because I lost my match. Hehe... you folks knew I was going to have to figure a way to throw that in... :dancing1:

It is a beautiful morning here in Warwick,a slight nip in the air but give me that any time to that heat we had during the summer months,my morning started giving a fuss to my two pet Siamese beauties, they are sun bathing in the window stretched out draped across each other, these are my last cats as I have decided once they go there will be no more, this means more time to look after ourselves, you sometimes need to make a decision, much as I love them to bits they are the last.

Well in about an hour it is time for my beard trim down at the salon, time to chat up the nice young ladies and have a few jokes,we have been going there for some years now despite the fact that the place has had a few different owners, but their prices are right and above all they do a good job.

And when I come back it is time to sort my paint brushes out and ditch the ones that have seen better days.

How did your day start ?

Hello Char, this just goes to show how popular your dad was with everyone he met, what a turn out that will be and what a generous gesture that it.

I really wish now that I had met him in person,he really did think the world of you all and his memory will live on forever,we will all make sure of that.

I joked that his 'News of the World' was his best idea, and that alone will be a daily reminder to us here of an extraordinary and lovely kind person.

Meeting with a customer this morning. Got there and the one I have been trying to talk to for five weeks bounces me to the person I got to arrange the meeting! Think the receptionists realised how annoyed I was. Meeting finally happened and lasted almost three minutes. Then twenty minutes of laughing and joking!

Off to the pond via a model shop - Dusseldorf fire boat for £146 ... hmmm (how do I sneak that passed the wife?)

Sailed for a while and heard how a member lost his 8' aircraft carrier below the waves ....

Home to cook, wife out log on to read mail ... 8 e-mails congratulating me on a job well done at work (well 3 congrats from Directors, 3 trying to organise a party for job well done and 1 from manager saying "let us analyse what went wrong" !?!) and an email from my sister asking for money

                    Been a good day .....

Looked out the window in the middle of the night, clear and frosty. Looked out after breakfast, cloud and BLUE stuff nice and calm, Glen Nevis for flying my Wot4. Three good flights and Uh oh, white stuff coming over Ben Nevis, quick packup. Snow on the hill down to 1500 feet slight sleet at patch. Cleared up later tho'. We were lucky at end of last week, a lot of the east highlands got badly damaged by torrential rain.

Well - another family funeral this morning (second in three weeks and two friends the fortnight before that). My mother-in-law chose the music to be played during the time of reflection - Engelbert Humperdink singing "Please release me, let me go ..."

She has asked me to write her Eulogy and has chosen Johnny Cash. As they lower the coffin we will play "Down, down, down into that burning ring of fire ..>" That should sound good!

I call her a witch so can anyone help with the munchkin song from Wizard of Oz?

She has paid for her funeral but will not tell me the date. I even asked at the funeral home when I picked my father's ashes up.

having a mad day, we had fireworks dispalys here on the last 2 weekends in october, sadly one firework went astray and one of our buildings took a direct hit on the roof, -luckily the building was unoccupied and only used for storage, its a big barn style building, metal sides and corrugated type roof- with plastic window type roof sections.... the roof took light and caved in, setting light to the contents, this included equipment ( my 6 spare hydraulic modelmaking benches) and alot of christmas decorations... these decorations are on a commercial scale- including a 10 ft tall LEGO santa claus..... and now its moulten plastic about 12 inches tall........

had to get quotes to replace/ rebuild all this stuff so the fireworks display company can pass it all onto their insurance company...and i am about to go on a weeks holiday starting tomorrow..... holiday- thats a joke, still expected to be on the other end of the phone if they need you !!!- need to get away from it all !!!!

Getting the grump from her indoors. Is that painting ever going to get done, I WANT MY NEW CARPETS she says, can you believe it? I fixed a burst water pipe, etched away with our acidic water, last week, and the floor is not yet fully dry and flyable weather outside. Anyway did a little make ready. Going flying tomorrow so ears will get a rest LOL.
