They used to be very common 50+ years ago, for the kind of merchants who would probably use a handcart in other countries. These days it’s mostly townspeople who have a couple of small kids to carry who buy the modern version, I think. But you could fit quite a few kits in one …Comment

between the wars was an experimental time for submarine 'cruisers'. The British 'M' class had a single 12" gun, and X-1 had 4 x 5.2" guns in two turrets. The US & Japan also produced heavy gun / aircraft armed subs. The Royal Navy subs were really too large for the confined European Waters ( and had unreliable engines ). The US developed their fleet submarines with overwhelming success, but with conventional armament. The Japanese fiddled with aircraft carrying subs, the largest, I-400 carried 3 planes, and was the largest submarine built, until the nuclear powered polaris subs!

I was aware of some of them Dave, and their shortcoming! The M class were basically designed to work like big duck hunting punts! Not often you see them as models though!Comment
