Something a bit different for me. Want to practice my painting and inspired by Tim Marlow. Not entirely sure why, as I'm not getting much bench time lately, but bought these 'not' Lord of the Rings characters off Etsy. Unbelievable that they are 3D printed. The only place you can see any layers is on the bloke's flag/banner. Sorry for disturbing your conversation, This turned up in the post today, I have been folding long PE the hard way. thought the time was right for a tool that could fold something longer than my 3cm hold and fold 'bug'. Very good just too small.
Oh Shinny!
The fold tool comes with the dark plate that I have put on and a mirror polished stainless steel plate. Rather impractical if you ask me, hence fitting the black one. Its solid! Not far off one kilo each these two! Heavy. Solid. I saw the roller and thought it was time to stop searching for drill bits when I need a bit of brass bend around something.Comment

A few recent impulse / bargain buys . After doing a couple of FW190s i seem to have developed a taste for german aircraft! None of these four cost more than a tenner in total - the Airfix was a car boot bargain -£3 , the Tamiya E-3 was ebay -£6.13 inc postage , the Tamiya E-4/7 another ebay £9.43 inc postage and the AZ another ebay - £9.65 inc postage , so the whole lot cost about £28 . And heres me trying to get the stash whittled down :rolling:Comment

Watch the alignment and fit on the AZ Model kit. There is virtually nothing to help the two fuselage halves align and so I had to fit thin styrene strips on the bottom and thicker rod on the top to give me something to work with.
As our very own Colin M put it on the build, with regards to AZ Model kits, "...everything is sort of there, but just doesn't quite 'gel'...".
By comparison the newer Airfix offerings are far better...... And as for Tamiya "nuff said"!
Looking forward to these come together!

Thanks for the heads up andrew , the AZ kit looks very nicely detailed ,quite crisp mouldings on this one , the only thing is the canopy is only offered as a closed unit so as nice as the cockpit is most of it wont be seen, anyway it was the brown and green stripy camo that really got my interest. The Tamiya kits also only give a closed canopy, ironically the Airfix has probably the most simplified cockpit but is the only one offering an open option .Comment
