This popped up Fleabay just over a week ago and as I was looking for something different, I put in a cheeky last second bid and picked it up for £21...almost all past and current sales are mid-£20s and up, even for Weekend editions.

This is one of their earlier (1999ish) kits and so I'm not expecting quite the same standard as the latest toolings. It's part count is also a lot less then the newer releases with the contents seeming to disappear in the box.

There is also a much newer and more detailed Zvezda 1/48 kit that goes for around £21 plus P&P. That includes a full engine but I'm not that fussed on that front and this being a Profipack has added mask and painted PE too, unlike the Zvezda option.

One reviewer really did it turn it's nose up at this kit but a few were more balanced. As an example, a 2016 review on Hyperscale put it like this:

"Comparisons to Zvezda's 2013-release Yak-3 are probably inevitable. Zvezda's kit occupies a different universe of detail with a full engine bay, separate cowlings and a very high level of general detail. If you want to build a superdetailed Yak-3, Zvezda is the way to go.

However, Eduard's kit still has its charms. It will look as much like a Yak-3 as the Zvezda kit does when it is finished, and it will be a fast, easy build. If you are planning to build a curbside kit as a canvas for one of the many striking marking schemes worn by this little fighter, then the Eduard kit is an excellent option."

    So I thought why not?

I think I have the W/E edition of this, plus all the etch and stuff to bring it up to profipack, plus a set of AK Real just arrived so I can paint it.......

I suspect he will be fairly obviously out of place … unless you place him very much at the front of the preferred viewing angle, but then you’re limiting yourself to that.

The only thing I could part with at the moment is an Eduard 1/48 I-16. They fall together and you can't see any cockpit gubbins once built.

                            Hi all

So first up a timely arrival following a discussion on another thread about useful materials for tarpaulins and how glass cleaning wipes were a good choice.

We all went down to see my mum for lunch today and she mentioned how she had just opened a new box of them and so did want the left overs of the old box. I model....and I wear glasses....so a no brainer.

The box has 18 wipes and scaled up from my usual 1/72 each one equates to 10m x 10m.....so they should keep going for a while!! :smiling5: Quite why she didn't finish the first box I have no idea but call it an early down payment on my inheritance - although the box is showing a excessive amount of wear and tear, and far more than I would have liked!:tongue-out3::smiling5:

As for the golf clubs - 1:1 scale BTW - Junior has shown an interest recently and been down to the local driving range for the last three weekends. My brother used to play but isn't using his clubs at the moment and so has given these to Junior on a long term loan to see if he takes to it!

                            ATB.

                            Andrew

Andrew, maybe Junior will also appreciate "The clicking of Cuthbert" by PG Wodehouse, fun and golf, hole-in-one (or all-in-one... :rolling.

Academy base kit plus Eduard goodies, usually see them go for silly money, but got this delivered for £60, considering the base kit new is more than that and 2nd hand usually goes for about £50 I think I did alright.
