I’m not criticising or belittling your awful event Mike, all I’m saying is that Johns issue is different. You knew nothing until you were unwillingly drawn into the altercation, but John knew nothing about his at all until it was all over. They simply cannot use the excuse that it was “his fault” like they unfortunately could towards you.

You may also be entitled to something because the letting agents have failed to carry out their contracted tasks correctly.
Seriously, if you haven’t yet, I would take legal advice if I were you.
Tim, unfortunately the police will only pay damages if it's the wrong address. The agents of course will say they did everything by the law, including inspections. Ringing the insurance company in the morning as it appears apart from having drug related cover £5000 max I do have loss of rent insurance so will see what they have to say .

Good luck John. Seems Plod is as efficient as the utilities at making good. Quote from Brit Gas management! "Oh yes, we're very good at making holes - filling them in we're not so good. That's why we subby out jobs like yours". Priceless.
You just don't need the stress!!!

May well be that the damages are incurred by the miscreant rather than the police. In effect the police had to do this because they were breaking the law, and while breaking the law they caused damage to your property. The police are obligated to ensure the claims for recompense are posted to the legal system. It’s on the police forces web sites as one of their requirements. Hope you get this sorted out :thumb2: :thumb2: .

No problem, but believe me policing today is a whole new woke ballgame, and having been on the recieving end of both the police and the criminal compensation board - sorry you are not dead attitude, but we are going to do nothing, leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

                      Sorry, John, I missed that.
I hope everything will turn right soon but I know how insurance and judiciary system can become very slow.

Thanks Andrea, yes everything takes forever, esp when it's done through emails.

                          John,
could be worse - you might have to use snail mail - and getting to speak to an intelligent human being over the phone is usually a frustrating performance, and even then - " Oh, you've come through to the wrong department, let me transfer you" - I recently had to explain four times to one NGO why I'd called - over 90 minutes of 'hold', listening to muzak - talking to more clueless individuals - then finally being told that the original letter that triggered this was an 'error'.

John Mate. I am so sorry for all you have been through.
Have you talked with a solicitor? Lots of good advice here, Tim is onto something! go to the local citizens advice, if they still exist, and have a chat with them.
I hope that you get things sorted and can get on with life.

I'm sorry to hear about all your problems John, it does seem unbelievable, but it's all too common today. I hope it all gets sorted soon, then you & Christine can move on.
Mike, unfortunately the police fail to take incidents like yours seriously or don't want to deal with it.

'Under-resourced' is the reason (!) - not even enough Rozzers to organise a Policeman's Ball now-a- days!
