Mike, unfortunately the police fail to take incidents like yours seriously or don't want to deal with it.
In 2010 the then Home Secretary T. May was invited to the police commisioners conference and to address them. At that conference she quite rightly informed them of the complaints she had been recieving from the public and carrying out her own investigations regarding the lack of police officers on the beat.
She stated that on several visits to different police headquarters that she had noticed and spoken to police officers doing work that civilian employees could do. She informed the commisioners that it was time to release these officers (her words) from these desk jobs and put them back on the streets where in fact there were more officers at desks than there were actually 'on the beat'.
She then informed the collected audience that if the problem was not rectified within six months, then she would take steps to removes officers and assets from all police divisions...
At a press conference later that day several of the top police commisioners stood in front of the press and media and laughed/mocked directly at her statement.
Six months later several of these high ranking officers plus lots of others and assets were removed.
Since that day the police have been crying to one and all that they do not have the officers or assets to do their job and that the government are to blame - NO! the government in this case are not to blame, it is those at the top of the police that laughed and did nothing except scoff and poopoo the Home Secretary.
I had no love for T. May as a politician, but I applaud her for once trying to do the right thing and make this country a lot safer place to live.
As for what happened to me, the police crossed the 'I's and dotted the 'T's and then went away to do something more important for instance studying for the sergeants exam which he passed.
As for the perpetrator or I should say instigator of what happened to me, justice will be meted out and revenge is sweet....

At last after all this time March / April the insurance company have paid up including the loss of income from the time it happened until the property was habitable, when the property went on the market.
Not some thing I would recommend to anyone to get involved with .

Of course there is an agreement between all insurers that they will pay no more than £5000 in damages if the drugs cultivation is involved.

Certainly have taken their time, having checked all the invoices for the repairs, which were all paid for straight away by me. Seems to me they all take the premiums quickly enough , but take their time to pay out.

They are all the same John. Quick to take the money then spend all their time looking for reasons not to pay. Glad it's all sorted.
