    My current stash

Hey guys. Thought I would add to the thread with what's in my stash. I'm finishing up my Skyraider and diorama now, I hope to have that done in a couple days. But here's what's in my stash at the moment. Not sure what I'm going to do next.

My wife finally got sick of me looking on ebay at the 1/72 Millenium Falcon and said I could get it. So I did. I felt like a kid at Christmas when I got that thing. Now I just need to work the courage up to build it. The Slave I should also be a challenge (painting). Once those 2 are done, my star wars collection will be complete with my other completed models.

LOL Guess what I brought today Graham....A quad gun tractor! Funny that.

Jim. That Phanton, "Show time" Goes together quite well. Just finnishing one off and waiting for the clear to dry.

Apart from the Quad tractor I also got hold of Italeri's commando jeep. That must be some thing for your LRDG thing Graham. No figures but loads of kit though!

The Italeri Jeep is supposed to be a good kit Ian. I already have the Tamiya classic which is getting a little long in the tooth. Some recommend using a more modern Tamiya Jep kit with the special bits off the SAS Jeep. From what I have heard (but not yet seen) the Italeri has it all. Be interested in what you make of it. What are the plans for the Quad? Are you considering the madness that is converting it to a Ford F30 Bofors truck?

The article I read uses two kits, the Tamiya Quad and an Italeri kit of the Chevrolet (which I cannot find) mainly because of the Italeri having the Chevrolet axels which I understand were grafted on to the Ford F30 as they were stronger. Also the wheels of the Chevrolet kit could be used but the article used some resin ones which I have traced to the USA so will not be getting. The Quad tires are obviously not the right ones as they need sand tires. I am considering getting (and hopefully learning how to use) casting stuff to make resin replicas of the Tamiya Chevrolet wheels and axels and trying to graft them all together on the conversion.

I may also just build a Quad and know my place lol....

Hmmmm Now I just happen to have a Bofors gun some where.... Sounds like a challenge. Have you seen that web site from Japan where soe one is building that truck conversion? I'll se if I can find the link if you like.

I haven't seen that Ian, would be interested in the link if you can find it. I found a site that sells PDF files on builds, I was searching for info on the Ducati and they do a really good PDF on that. I also found one for the Quad conversion which does lack some of the detail that a newcomer to conversions like myself needs but, very helpfully, it does include the dimensions for the quite simple truck back that has to go on the extended Quad chassis.

Really the project is dependant on getting the wheels sorted. I am not too bothered about swapping the Ford axels for Chevrolet, you won't see them anyway (I know, I am a philistine....) so it may be down to casting a set from the tamiya Chevrolet. May have to start a new thread for this project so I can call on peoples experience in doing something like this. I dod do it years ago using Maskol for the mould, gradually building up layers of it to get a thick rubber mould, but it was for spare wheels that didn't need back detail, these will have to be done with a two part mould which I have never done before.

I was just looking at that very site, I was a bit surprised that I had to pay for the down load so I held back. Not that I am a tight git, I would just like to hear a bit about them first. The price is peanuts money, so thats not the issue. Whats your oppinion of them Graham. I must admit I was looking at the two they have for Fords. both the f30 and the F60.

If you say they are good then they are good. Now about these tyres.....

Not done any resin casting but making a mould is a piece of cake. If you have the stuff to do it. I make moulds for casting lead but the principle is the same. An other option is we could order the wheels together and share the post. Just need to know what it is I need to get hold of.

I think you are right in suggestion an new thread for all this.

Hi Darren, you have some really nice stuff there. Ebay is a tad addictive but if you are saving a bit then it is worth it. Just don't get sucked into bidding more than you can get it for elsewhere. I have seen kits go for really silly money on there.

I did see the Italeri Schnellboot in 1:35 while in Dunstable. Looks a lot of box, was around £89 so pocket money didn't run to it lol

Aww come on Tony, if the other Tony (Yakface) sees these he will be in ecstasy lol. Never heard of the Harbin myself, looks an interesting aircraft, a bit like a Canberra, still has that classic Soviet tail gun design. Look forward to seeing these on the bench.
